For the third year in a row, C and H Sugar is the presenting sponsor for Share our Strength’s® Great American Bake Sale to help fight childhood hunger. Great American Bake Sale raises money to fight childhood hunger across the U.S. by encouraging individuals, families, organizations and schools to hold bake sales and donate the profits to help Share our Strength provide millions of meals and snacks to America’s children.

Sister brands, Domino® Sugar and C and H® Sugar have been a presenting sponsor of Share our Strength’s Great American Bake Sale since 2008, encouraging thousands of bake sale registrations, providing delicious recipes and donating valuable funds for this important cause. In 2010, DominoSugar strive to help Great American Bake Sale registrations surpass the success of the 2009 campaign, which brought in 7,600 bake sale registrations and raised over $1.3 million. This year, considering the number of children in America who are at risk of hunger has risen to nearly 17 million, the goal of Share Our Strength’s Great American Bake Sale is to have 9,000 bake sale registrations and to raise $1.8 million. Did you know that 1 out of 4 kids in America struggle with hunger?  That’s almost 17 million kids.  Those are staggering numbers, and it really is upsetting.  No child should have to go hungry, or have to worry about how they are going to eat.  Some other alarming facts: Lack of enough nutritious food impairs a child’s ability to concentrate and perform well in school, they are more likely to experience headaches, stomachaches, colds, ear infections and fatigue. Children who struggle with hunger are also sick more often, recover more slowly, and are more likely to be hospitalized.

$25 Can help feed one child three healthy meals every day for a month.
$50 Can help connect one child with healthy meals throughout the summer.
$100 Can help provide 25 children facing hunger with backpacks full of healthy food to feed them and their families over the weekend.
$200 Can help buy grocery bags of healthy foods for 50 families in need.
$500 Can help reach twelve low-income families with a life-changing, six-week nutritious cooking and food budgeting course.
