Snacking is one of my favorite pastimes, but I always feel guilty after gorging myself on consuming unhealthy snacks.  The problem, for me at least is that it’s hard to find snacks that are tasty and “snack-worthy”.  I first tried Pirate’s Booty snacks a couple of years ago, when I decided to pay more attention to what I was eating. I found them in the health food aisle of my grocery store.  I wasn’t sure quite what to expect but they were so tasty that once I started eating them I couldn’t stop.  I have to remind myself that even healthy things {most of them} should be eaten in moderation.

The Pirate Brands story began in 1987 in Sea Cliff, NY with our founder, Robert. Robert, a snack industry renegade and father of two, scoured the high-seas for a tasty treasure that would inspire people to live a little healthier and have fun while doing it. Thanks to Robert and his tasty treasure, no longer do you have to eat “cheese” puffs dusted with neon orange powder with incomprehensible ingredients. When you buy Pirate Brands products, you are getting wholesome goodness without the guilt.

As the leader of the healthy snacking revolution, we’ve created products for the whole family that are healthy, all natural, baked and delicious. We’ve eliminated fryers and trans fats from all of our products and keep the ingredients simple. Our only additives are just good fun.

Thanks to Robert is right!  One of the many things I love about Pirate Brands snacks is that they don’t make my fingers, clothes, etc. turn orange.  Blech!  Sometimes I crave a cheesy flavor snack, but they all seem to have the orange powder.

For review I was sent a really cute little chest, filled to the brim with a selection of Pirate Brand Snacks.  I had previously only tried the  Aged White Cheddar.  In this treasure chest, there were the following: Pirate’s Booty in Veggie, Sour Cream & Onion and New York Pizza, and Aged White Cheddar flavors.  Also included were Potato Flyers in Homestyle Barbecue, Sour Cream & Onion and Original flavors.

In addition to Pirate’s Booty and Potato Flyers, Pirate Brands has Original Tings {which are crunchy corn sticks}, and Smart Puffs!  I love a variety and I am just thrilled that Pirate Brands has such a wonderful array of flavors to please my palate when I need something crunchy to snack on.  All of their snacks are all-natural, baked, trans fat and gluten free! The Pirate’s Booty is vegan friendly, and includes no cholesterol. What more can a person ask for? For little ones, these would make a great snack, instead of letting the kids eat chips, and other unhealthy food.

My family and I have thoroughly enjoyed the snacks {they are all gone now – *insert sad face here*}.  The barbecue flavors are really tangy, and the sour & cream flavor is just plain yummy.  All of their snacks are full of flavor, and we don’t feel like we are not missing the unhealthy snacks.  We are just thrilled to find healthy snacks we love!
