$25 Visa Gift Card Giveaway (#8) – favorite cat litter?

You have heard my thoughts on my fur babies, and how much I LOVE changing their litter boxes (major sarcasm there!), and now I have a few final thoughts for you (and even an admission of guilt).

First the guilt thing. I sometimes put off changing the litter box a little longer than I should. Please tell me you are also guilty of this? I can usually tell when I have waited too long when either the smell becomes a little strong, or the cats start this weird yowling. Sure enough, when I hear this particular yowling, and I check on the litter boxes, they are indeed ready for a change.

I have found that with the Arm & Hammer Double Duty Clumping Cat Litter, that I don’t dread dealing with the boxes nearly as much as I used to. I think part of the reason is that I don’t have to lug the heavy, stinky box outside each time they need changing. I just use a little shovel and scoop the clumps into a plastic grocery bag and voila! My home stays pretty darned fresh smelling, if I do say so myself. The cats and I are both happy about that!

Cats really like to be clean, and they really, really hate dirty, smelly litter boxes.  I have heard that you should have at least one litter box per cat (and even an extra if possible).  Even if the cats end up sharing, they should still have at least one per cat.  I have three indoor kitties, so we have three boxes placed in a quiet room.   You can find more cat litter box tips on the Arm & Hammer site.

To help me in “remembering” when the litter boxes should be checked on, I simply set an alarm on my iPhone. I have found that the reminder helps me immensely, and the job is much easier when tended to frequently.

One other thing that helps with the cats tracking litter everywhere is one of the mats that catch the litter as the kitties step out. This helps my feet too, as I don’t crunch on cat litter when I walk through the room :)
