These are my fur-babies – Annabelle, Newman, Lily and Jake. Cute? Of course. Stinky? Sometimes – depending on the cat litter I use. This all changed recently, however
I had the opportunity to try several Arm & Hammer products last year and I shared my thoughts with you. One such product was an Arm & Hammer Cat Litter, which I was really happy with. I have been using it and still love it, but now I have found another cat litter (also by Arm & Hammer) that I am so impressed with – Arm & Hammer Ultra Last Cat Litter!
If you don’t have cats, it might be hard to understand how something like cat litter can make a person so happy. Trust me though, finding a litter that reduces odor and work on my part is something to get a little bit giddy over.
Gone are the days of my house smelling like I have cats, thank goodness. I came downstairs the first morning after filling the litter boxes with the new litter, and I actually noticed a fresh scent, but was baffled as to what it was. I didn’t have any candles burning, and there weren’t any new air fresheners out. It dawned on me that it was the Arm & Hammer Ultra Last cat litter of all things. Fresh scent? Check. The fresh scent is still going strong, and that is saying a lot as my kitties (bless their hearts) can be quite odiferous.
Is Arm & Hammer Ultra Last effective?
For once, I was anxious for my cats to use their clean litter boxes (usually the minute I change the boxes, they all clamor to see who can get their first, to do their business, which is very annoying.). But this time, I wanted to see how well it clumped and how easy it was for me to scoop it out. I waited until the litter boxes with the new litter had been used sufficiently, to test it’s endurance. I am happy to report that it was really easy to scoop, and after I cleaned the boxes of their “doings”, the fresh scent was still in the air.
Finally there is a cat litter that actually stays fresh like it promises! Since Arm & Hammer Ultra Last Clumping Litter has baking soda in it, this really should not surprise me. Arm & Hammer Baking Soda is really effective at trapping unwanted odor (and this is specifically why I keep a box in my refrigerator, use it in our garbage cans and in the garbage disposal!).
I am pleased beyond words – this is the cat litter that I will be buying from now on. There is nothing worse than walking into a house that smells like cats, and I will not allow my house to smell that way. I want a warm and welcoming, fresh scent when people first step into my home. I extend a big, huge thanks to Arm & Hammer for getting it right!

Thanks for the review! I have 8 cats and have been considering changing their litter.

My daughter said the same thing! The second they change the litter, the cats are all in there pooping it up again!

Before kids, I had cats so I can understand how wonderful it is to find something that actually WORKS. I’ll keep this in mind if we should get a pet in the future. Thanks, Jen!

I am very disappointed in the A&H Ultra Last cat litter. It does not clump the urine at all. It might smell good, but it doesn’t do the job. I bought 2 boxes on special. I struggled through 1 box, but won’t be using the other one. I may continue using A&H Double Duty

I am also disappointed with the Ultra Last, it does not clump, or if it does, it disintegates as you try to scoop it up. Guess I will go back to Multicat

I have tried many , many different kinds of liter. No matter the price I have tried the cheap stuff and also the really expensive stuff. I am so please with this Arm & Hammer Ultra liter it is amazing.. this is coming from a busy mother of two that hates doing the liter box of my 3 furry family members. I have learned that the odor blocker last a long time and smells good ,i have NOT had any problem with the clumping, clumps just fine for me. My cats love it and I also love that it controls the smell in my basement. You would not even know I had any furry family members, not like before. I am really excited to have found something that really works, that I felt I had to write a recomendation to this effect. Thank you for this amazing product 🙂 I am and always will be a Arm & Hammer Ultra liter user.

I recently tried Arm & Hammer Ultra Last cat litter, and one of my cats had a BAD reaction; she began breathing really hard, and she had her mouth wide open, gasping for breath. I gave her a bath, and she’s doing better now, but I will not be buying any more of this. Has anyone else had any of their cats have this reaction?
Jennifer-admin
Oh that is very scary! I haven’t heard of such a reaction before. I’m glad your kitty is okay!

Larry June 15th – You are absolutely correct. Ultra Last DOES NOT CLUMP AND DOES DISINTERGRATE. At anywhere from $8.00 to $13.00 a box( according to wght.) and having to buy it every 8 to 10 days this is a SCAM I can ill afford this terrible expense. Your product is awful. Tons of Litter sticks to Urine when you clean box. .I only have one Cat.and clean the litter each day. I have always had Cats and never experienced anything like this. Need a reply from Arm and Hammer. Thank You
Catherine
I agree, this product does not clump sufficiently and does disintergrate, making it difficult to scoop. Also, I have noticed, with all the A&H litters, which I have used for years, that there is a lot of “dust” when you pour it out.. So much so that it gets in your nostrils. What happened to the Hard Clumping litter? Perhaps this is what irritated Patricia’s kitty. It seems A&H has reformulated all their litters, and definitely not for the better.I will be switching to a different brand.

We used to have 5 indoor-only cats, so needless to say, we went through a lot of litter. We used to love A&H litter, but I agree with Catherine — it is VERY dusty!
I went to Petsmart this weekend and started looking on the back of the boxes for what used to be described by A&H as “99.9 % dust free.” And — aha!
I noticed that all A&H litters are not created equal. On the type we are currently using — the Super Scoop, fragance free, fast and easy scooping– there is NO MENTION of this product being dust-free. On other boxes of the A&H, such as those with fragance and mulitiple cats — there was a mention of dust-free.
I found these comments while looking for the website to issue a complaint. I suggest everyone else do the same!
I bought a box of Ever-Clean — we’ll see how that works for our 2 kitties!

This product is not awful, however is seems more human friendly than cat friendly. The clumping works when it wants to. And when it does it gets the job done. The smell is a fresh scent, but is often too strong. My cat does not always cover his feces when I put this type of litter out. He likes cats pride, but I’m not sure I do. Any other suggestions of litters? He is five months and I’ve had him for about two months so I am new to this. Please and Thank you.
