Tillamook is a name I’ve known for years and years. Their cheese is one of my favorites, and when I want a quality cheese, Tillamook is what I head for first at the grocery store. Imagine my surprise when I found out that Tillamook now makes ice cream! Yes, you read that right!
I think the reason that their quality of their products is so good, is that their standards are high. Tillamook believes that healthy cows produce the best milk (which goes without saying, of course), but they never use artificial growth hormones and they test each batch to make sure it is of the highest quality. This is apparent to me, not only in their cheeses, but in their decadent ice creams.
I was sent an assortment of Tillamook Ice Cream to try, and of course share my thoughts with you. I received:
Oregon Strawberry – Chunks of juicy Oregon-grown strawberries bursting from a stage of sweet, creamy strawberry ice cream. I really, really liked this flavor – it was not overly sweet, but any sweetness there was tasted fresh and natural. The strawberries were not “mushy” as they are in some ice cream brands.
Marionberry Pie – Rich vanilla ice cream with stripes of fresh Oregon Marionberry and pieces of piecrust. Marionberry ice cream was developed by Tillamook as a nod of respect to this Oregon born berry. Now this isn’t an ice cream flavor you see just anywhere. What a treat! Oregon is known for it’s plump berries, so here is your chance to try them if you never have before.
Tillamook Mudslide – Rich chocolate ice cream, chocolate fudge pieces and a thick, creamy fudge ripple is an ice cream for the ultimate ice cream connieseur! According to Tillamook, “Mudslide is an acknowledgement of the rainy place that delicious dairy products come from”. If you love chocolate (as most of us do), this is quite satisfying and will take care of that sweet tooth!
Udderly Chocolate – White chocolate and milk chocolate ice cream both take center stage with a show-stopping flurry of chocolate flakes. I really enjoyed this ice cream, as sometimes I can’t decide if I want chocolate or vanilla. I can enjoy both with Udderly Chocolate. Here is a little tip – mix a little of this with the Oregon Strawberry and you have a Neapolitan flavored ice cream!
Vanilla Bean – Tillamook took America’s favorite ice cream flavor and filled it with loads of real crushed vanilla beans. It’s the vanilla ice cream that can stand on its own. Sometimes, when I don’t want too much “going on” with my ice cream, I enjoy just a plain bowl of vanilla ice cream. Tillamook Vanilla Bean fits the bill perfectly. It is so flavorful and rich, and there is no need for add-ins or toppings.
All of the flavors of ice cream that I received were rich and creamy. I didn’t taste anything “artificial” or sugary sweet. Just quality through and through. Mmmm look:
In addition to the flavors I received, Tillamook Ice Cream is also available in other mouth-watering flavors, such as Vanilla Chocolate Chip, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, Sticky Bun (oh my), Banana Split, Caramel Butter Pecan, Caramel Toffee Crunch, Coffee Almond Fudge, Grandma’s Cake Batter, Strawberry Cheesecake and so many more.
There are plenty of ice cream companies on the market, but for me it is all about quality as well as flavor. Tillamook Ice Cream is definitely something to write home about, and ice cream that you will be proud to serve to friends and family (or just a little midnight snack for yourself, if you don’t want to share).
