The last time I wrote about my Maytag appliances, I was telling you how much I love my Maytag Ice20 French Doors Refrigerator. Today I want to tell you about my Gemini® Gas Double Oven Range with EvenAir™ True Convection!
Let me back up a bit though. Originally I received a Maytag 6.2 cu. Ft. Capacity Gas Range with Triple-Choice and Speed Heat Elements, but after using it a few times, I discovered that the outside of the oven door, as well as the handle got extremely hot. Apparently this was an issue with a few ovens in this particular batch, so those of us bloggers (Maytag Moms) who were having this problem were sent new ovens. I really loved the old oven, aside from that particular issue, but I really, REALLY love the new oven! I have never seen a free standing oven that is a double oven before, but I am thrilled with this concept.
The Maytag Gemini® Gas Double Oven Range with EvenAir™ True Convection ($1,999 MSRP) is a beauty, and a workhorse. I love all of the features of this oven, and it just makes my life so much simpler. Seriously.
When it arrived, I was curious about the rectangular shaped burner in the middle of the stove top, and what it was for. The installer explained to me that it is for a griddle (which came with the stove). It is SO much fun to make pancakes on this, and I love that I don’t have to go digging in the cabinets looking for my griddle pan. I can see myself using the griddle often.
My mom used to make quiche from scratch quite a bit and it was always a family favorite. I tend to make it often for my family, as well, and I was curious how the new oven was going to cook the Quiche. Since Quiche can sometimes be tricky, I thought this would be a perfect way to try out the oven. I was super impressed with how evenly it browned the crust and how perfectly it was cooked inside. It wasn’t “soupy” or too firm – it was just the right consistency.
It is really hard to pick one favorite feature of the Maytag Gemini Double Oven, as there are so many I have come to depend on. Because of it’s size (6.0 cubic ft.), I can easy cook several items at the same time. If I need to cook things at different temperatures, I can use both ovens. Yes, I do believe this is my favorite feature! This is especially handy when cooking holiday meals, since meat, casseroles and desserts typically cook at varying temperatures. I am also really excited about how user friendly my Magtag oven is. Everything I need is right on the panel (shown below), and it actually displays digital messages to guide me. My new oven is going to be a life saver over Christmas – I will be able cook our food quickly and efficiently, which means less time in the kitchen and more time to spend with my guests. Just like for Thanksgiving, we will be hosting a huge feast for several guests.
Other features of the Maytag Gemini® Gas Double Oven Range are:
- EvenAir™ True convection in the lower oven to roasts up to 30% faster than a thermal oven
- Power Preheat which preheats the upper oven 40% faster than a conventional 5.0 cu. ft. conventional oven
- 2.1 cu. ft. Self-Cleaning Upper Oven, 3.9 cu. ft. Self-Cleaning Lower Oven
- Adjustable Keep Warm™ Feature
- Delay Bake/Clean Setting
- DuraClean™ Heavy-Duty Cast Iron Burner Grates
- Two 5,000 BTU Burners
- One 10,000 BTU Power Cook Burner
I really love the Power Cook Burner – it makes searing steaks super fast, and boiling water much faster than on traditional stove tops (especially gas – they take forever!).
There is just so much to love about my new Maytag oven – it is really unlike any other oven I have ever seen, and I have a feeling this is going to be a long and lasting relationship!
