To be a kid again – fun with trampolines

I remember when I was little, I had a friend who had a trampoline. We spent countless hours jumping and jumping. We would land on our behinds, jump back up and do a few other tricky maneuvers. I wanted a trampoline of my own so badly, but we simply did not have the room for one in our yard.

It kind of saddens me that these days many kids have not even been on a trampoline. Today’s kids are busy with their electronics and they do not play outdoors as much as my generation did. Jumping and playing on a trampoline is great exercise for kids and adults alike, and it is so much fun that you don’t even realize you are exercising!

We do have the room for a trampoline (a small one) at our new retirement home, and I have mentioned to the hubs how much I would like to have one.  My 16-year old daughter would be delighted as well, as she has always wanted one too.  There are even trampolines that are recessed in the ground – neat, right?

Of course there is one small fear I have with trampolines, and that is ME falling off or falling “up”.  It has nothing to do with the trampolines themselves, but more that I am the type of person that trips over flat surfaces, so with my luck, I just might end up on the roof!

How about you? Did you have a trampoline as a kid? Any fun stories?

  1. we use a trampoline for my son with autism

  2. Unfortunately my sister and I didn’t have a trampoline either. We didn’t have the room nor the money for a really nice one. However, I HAVE been on one a few times in my youth and they were endless amounts of fun :)

It’s sad that kids these days really don’t enjoy those kinds of things.
