I am a sucker for romantic movies. The Notebook is one of my all-time favorite romance movies and I am excited to announce that a new movie, based on a book by Nicholas Sparks, is coming to theaters! Safe Haven will be in theaters on February 14th – Valentine’s Day. I cannot think of better timing for a romantic movie release!

An affirming and suspenseful story about a young woman’s struggle to love again, Safe Haven is based on the novel from Nicholas Sparks, the best-selling author behind the hit films The Notebook and Dear John. When a mysterious young woman arrives in a small North Carolina town, her reluctance to join the tight knit community raises questions about her past. Slowly, she begins putting down roots, and gains the courage to start a relationship with Alex, a widowed store owner with two young children. But dark secrets intrude on her new life with such terror that she is forced to rediscover the meaning of sacrifice and rely on the power of love in this deeply moving romantic thriller.

The movie stars has a fantastic cast: Josh Duhamel, Julianne Hough, David Lyons, and Cobie Smulders. I am especially excited as I met Cobie Smulders when I attended Marvel’s The Avengers Red Carpet event in NYC! I think she is pretty amazing :)

  1. I don’t go to the movies but y daughter does and I think she’d enjoy this and will most likely love reading the book. She likes to read the story before seeing the movie

  2. Yes, I really like Josh Duhamel and Nicholas Sparks always writes a good love story!

  3. I’d like to read the book first, and then see the movie. I promise you I I scolled down to write this before I read comment #10! I realize it looks like I copied, lol, but I always like to read the book first, even though I sometimes nitpick the movie. :)

  4. I probably won’t see it until it comes on TV. I don’t like to go to theaters anymore.

  5. Yes! I’m definitely going to watch it, looks like its going to be so good. I want to read the book first though before I do.

  6. I really do want to see this. Usually I like to read Nicholas Sparks first and then see the movie, but since in this case the script was written before the book, I think I’d like to see the movie first!

  7. Audra Weathers on

I probably won’t see it in the theaters, but only because I usually see animated films so my daughter can come along. Looks like something my sister would enjoy.

  8. Lori Goldstein on

Will definitely go to see this as I’m thrilled to see Josh Duhamel acting in a full length feature (Loved him during his stint on All My Children) and a big fan of Nicholas Sparks books.

  9. Saw Safe Haven last week. Highly recommend it. Beautiful scenery, good suspense, happy ending – many surprises.
    Thanks for the contest.

  10. Oh yes, Note Book is one of my all time favorite movies so when I heard the Author who wrote Note Book also wrote Safe Haven I knew I was going to have to see the movie. I also liked that the director is the same who did the movie Cider House Rules. I won’t watch the movie until I have read the book. I did the same last year. I read “The Help” and then watched the movie. Thanks so much for sharing this review and giveaway with all of us~!

  11. I love reading the book before watching the movie. I am a huge fan of The Notebook and Dear John. So I know I will love this.
