repurpose single use dinnerware
We like to throw parties – whether it is a family birthday, a BBQ, or just a casual get-together, it seems like there is always a group here. Instead of using real plates and utensils, it is so much easier to use paper plates, cups, etc. The problem I have with that though is that it just doesn’t seem great for the environment. I am also really particular about how sturdy paper plates are, as it is a little embarrassing when a guest loses their dinner to a plate that soaked through. Those thin plates are for the birds! Most are not recyclable either, which really does make me feel bad. We don’t use styrofoam, but there are some paper plates, bowls, etc. that have a thin plastic coating on them. That’s not good!

I am absolutely thrilled to discover Repurpose! Repurpose dinnerware is truly unique, and I can now enjoy the parties without feeling guilty about our environment.

About Repurpose:
Repurpose was founded by a group of eco-entrepreneurs driven to positively impact the environment by changing everyday behavior. Realizing the devastating effect single-use plastics were having on the environment and the fact that no alternatives existed for the consumer, Repurpose decided to manufacture its own. Repurpose, a line of sustainable tableware that looks out for the health of you, your family, and the planet, was born. Our mission is to reduce the amount of plastics in our environment and offer guilt-free, renewable alternatives. By purchasing from Repurpose, consumers support a woman-owned, sustainable company that is changing the world—one cup, fork and plate at a time. Visit RepurposeCompostables.com. Repurpose—Welcome to a Cleaner World.

So how do they do this? Well, it’s very interesting actually! They make their items from plants (which are renewable resources of course). Their products use only soy-based ink, and contain only bamboo, sugar and corn. How cool is that? But that’s not all! They are 1000% compostable and use less fossil resources to produce. This in turn lowers the overall carbon footprint.

What I really love though, is all of the above PLUS the fact that these are some seriously strong plates, bowls, cups and utensils! We haven’t experience leaking through the plates (they are also cut resistant!). We are enjoying the Repurpose products so much, and we can do so guilt-free.

repurpose hot cups and lids

I have to say that these warm beverage cups by Repurpose are AWESOME!  My husband has been using them to take his coffee to work, and they are so much easier to handle than the big, clunky portable coffee cups.  These cups are sturdy, and definitely keep beverages warm.  The lids fit on snugly, to prevent spillage, and no sleeve is needed, as the cups feature eco-insulation. Oh, and the only thing you will taste with these cups is your yummy beverage, since there is no petroleum based liner or styrofoam in them!

The plastic cups are equally impressive. They hold up very well, and to me, actually seem sturdier than other types I have used in the past. And they are super cute too 🙂

The forks, knives and spoons are very, very strong. Nothing is more frustrating than stabbing a piece of food when you are starving, only to have the fork break in half. Or when you are trying to cut something, it can be quite a challenge. I have found these to be much stronger than your typical “plastic” utensils.

Did I mention that Repurpose products are also BPA-Free and chlorine-free? What’s not to love about this company and their products. I absolutely love companies that care about our environment this much, and that create products that consumers love to use, while being eco-friendly.

I will be moving soon and these would be a great help for us the first week so we could have convenience while being environmentally friendly.

  3. Something I never thought of… till now as I read through your description… these products have CORN in them. Since I am allergic to corn… I am wondering if the process of making them would render them safe for me to use. NEVER thought of products having corn in them … and how they could be contributing to my reactions.

  4. We incorporate disposable dinner wear into our daily routines. We don’t use Styrofoam either snd recycle everything we can but I still feel guilty. This, sounds great, plus the strength is important, my teenage son’s biggest pet peeve are thin paper plates so he’ll stack three together which is a peeve of mine-and around we go lol. I hope to see this brand in stores near me soon!

  5. I would use Repurpose products at school lunch events I plan for my son’s teachers. They would enjoy and appreciate knowing that it is a line of sustainable tableware that looks out for the health of you, your family, and the planet, was born.
