Spektrum Blue Light Blocking Glasses

As a blogger, I spend a lot of time staring at screens. Like, a LOT of time. Of course this is regularly interrupted by a cat trying to walk across my keyboard or my children asking for something, but I still worry about the impact it has on my eyes. Naturally I’ve heard from every doctor to not stare at screens for long periods of time, but all my work and the cute cat videos on the internet can’t wait! Naturally, I was thrilled when I heard about Spektrum Blue Light locking glasses.

What are Spektrum glasses?

Well I had the opportunity to review a pair and I couldn’t be more thrilled. I chose the Pro-50% Blue Light Blocking model ($39.95) and love them. After doing some research, I found that blue light, which is abundant in cell phone and computer screens, is special in that it can actually go deeper into the eye and cause damage. Further, a study at Harvard showed that blue light can affect the circadian rhythm, the natural cycle of our bodies throughout the day. This can cause disturbance in our sleep patterns and even keep us up at night!

All of Spektrum’s models have 50% blue blocking capabilities, but the elite models come with even greater defense. Another great modification is the reading glass addition. As I find myself getting older, it feels like I’ll soon need a selfie stick to read a book, so these glasses definitely help me!

A little more about Spektrum lenses:

~UV Light Blocking
~Anti-Scratch
~Anti-Reflective
~Anti-Screen Flicker
~Anti-Glare
~Blue Light Reduction
~Anti-Fog
~Anti-Oil (Fingerprint Resistant)
~Electromagnetic Ray Blocking

Aside from all the great technical aspects, I love the simple, yet stylish shapes the frames come in, as well as the different colors. There is a frame for every face shape, and just bout any style. Even better, they come in funky kid patterns for those children who love their video games.

These frames are very durable and flexible (perfect for my daughter – she has a tendency of rolling over on her glasses in her sleep!). They are made of polycarbonate material, which is incredibly strong (and not expensive, which is a plus for customers!).

Spektrum glasses are great for people that don’t wear glasses, but still want protection from the wear and tear on the eyes, of long hours staring at a computer screen. They’re perfect for students, bloggers, and gamers!

I never knew that about the blue light. I am constantly on the computer or my phone. These would be great especially since once I hit about 42, I started getting those over 40 eyes and had to use reader glasses.

  10. I need them because I use reading glasses, and it seems that I am constantly on a screen. I read some of my books on an e-reader, I use a computer all day at work, I’m checking text and Facebook messages on my cell phone screen, I even use a tablet for some of my charts when I’m doing cross-stitch.
