Turkey Nuts on a menu?
Turkey nuts. Now, I have heard of Rocky Mountain Oysters and a few other disgusting things, but turkey nuts? I didn’t even know they had nuts – they are not visible (on any turkey that I have ever seen!). We went to visit my son at college a couple of weeks ago, and it happened to be my husbands birthday. We, along with our friends (a couple), and her parents, celebrated his birthday at this wonderful steakhouse. When we were finished, my 12 year old daughter and I decided to go wait outside for everyone (we were getting restless). There was a copy of the menu posted in a glass case and we were bored so we started to look it over. It was a little different than the one inside.
As we are scanning the menu, there is a box that says, “Feeling adventurous? Try our Turkey Nuts”. My daughter and giggled like crazy, assuming it was some type of appetizer with a silly name. We couldn’t wait to show everybody our little “find”. My daughter told me to grab me camera, and we started snapping away. As the rest of our party streamed out of the restaurant we called them over to take a peek. Our friend’s mom, who has lived in the area for years, said, “Oh, yes, they are real turkey nuts”.
Of course my daughter and I were mortified and stood there with our mouths hanging open…then everyone laughed at us.
Would you try turkey nuts? Ewwwwwwww.
