My birthday happens to be the day before Valentine’s Day, so yesterday it happened to hit on Friday the 13th – UGH. I knew that sounded bad from the start, and sure enough it was an absolutely horrible day. But that’s another story.
Let me preface this story by saying that my husband is the sweetest guy in the world and would do anything for me. For the past few weeks, I have been sending my husband links to presents I would like (per his request). One of which was a “Return to Tiffany’s bracelet”.
My dear husband brought home a beautiful birthday cake for me last night. I opened the box, peeked inside and told him how beautiful it was. He said, “There’s a surprise inside!”. Ooooh, this is getting exciting…my mind is filled with shiny objects. I tell him I’m afraid I might cut into the surprise…he assures me that it’s not breakable. After dinner we light the candles and they attempt to sing Happy Birthday to me. I am completely preoccupied with the cake sitting in front of me that is consuming my every thought. He has never done something quite this creative before.
I cut the first piece, a corner piece with a lovely pink rose on top. I cut the next few pieces down the row and hand them out. I finally cut a piece towards the middle. Hmmm I wonder how big this surprise is. We are all eating our cake and everyone is chatting away. I head back over to my cake (my curiosity has gotten the better of me) and stick the long knife in sideways down the middle, pulling the goopy filling out when I pull the knife out. My husband says, “Sweetheart, what are you doing?”. I said, “Well, I’m trying to find my surprise!”. He looked kind of perplexed and said, “Oh…the surprise is the raspberry filling inside – I thought you’d really like that.”. I’m sure my expression said it all, but I gave him a big hug and told him I love raspberry filling and I thanked him.
ANOTHER FUNNY VALENTINE’S STORY THAT JUST HAPPENED…
I bought Valentine’s day cards for my hubby, son and daughter a few days ago and this morning I put them on the counter. My husband had to go into work today for a bit, but before he left he put out my candy and candy for my daughter. A few minutes ago, my daughter came upstairs and thanked me for the Valentine’s Day card. She then said, “That’s so funny how you and dad got me the same card”….Huh?
Well, my husband, the sweetie he is had bought her a card when he bought mine. Neither of us knew the other was going to get her a card. He signed his “Love Dad” and I signed mine “Love Mom and Dad”. She brought them upstairs for me to see:
