Friday afternoon I had to take my 13 year old daughter to the doctor for a physical and four – yes four – shots. I remember how much I dreaded immunizations when both of my kids were little, and how horrible I felt when they looked at my while crying as if to say “Mommy, how can you let someone hurt me?”
Luckily my daughter is a real champ when it comes to getting shots, but my heart still felt heavy for her. It only gets a tiny bit easier as they get older. She reached for my hand while she half-jokingly said “Mommy – hold my hand please”. Anytime sweetie…
She did get four very cool band-aids though – Tweety Bird and Snoopy. She seemed happy with that.
Has it been any easier watching your children get shots as they have grown older? How do they react to getting shots?
