Most of the clocks in our house are the digital type, but when I decorated our kitchen when we moved into our new house, I bought a wall clock to match the grapevine motif I was using in the rest of the kitchen. It really did look nice – it matched the wall border perfectly and I was quite happy.
A few years later, when the clock stopped ticking and got stuck at 12:00, I thought I should probably change the batteries. Good idea, right? Well, I did change them, yet the arms of the clock wouldn’t move…they wouldn’t budge at all. I put in another new set of batteries, but still had no luck getting my beloved wall clock going again. My daughter said to me, “Well Mom, the good thing is that the clock is correct at least twice a day!”. Good point, and I had to laugh, but I knew I would soon be shopping for new kitchen wall clocks.
I plan on picking a new theme for my kitchen this time, sans the wall border. I will probably do solid colors, as I want to incorporate the pretty new dishes I recently acquired. Hopefully I will find a wall clock that I love as much as my dearly departed grapevine clock.
