Back in January when I attended the Gnomeo & Juliet Red Carpet Premiere in Hollywood, we were also treated to something pretty special. We were able to visit the set of The Muppets Movie which will be in theaters November 23rd! Can you believe it has been 11 years since the last Muppet movie was in theaters?
This was a huge surprise for us, and we had a blast watching them film and meeting the voices behind the Muppets (including my all-time favorite, Kermit!). It was neat getting a sneak preview of the movie by watching them film short segments, and it was especially entertaining to watch the actors manipulating the muppets while talking.
On vacation in Los Angeles, Walter, the world’s biggest Muppet fan, and his friends Gary (Jason Segel) and Mary (Amy Adams) from Smalltown, USA, discover the nefarious plan of oilman Tex Richman (Chris Cooper) to raze the Muppet Theater and drill for the oil recently discovered beneath the Muppets’ former stomping grounds. To stage The Greatest Muppet Telethon Ever and raise the $10 million needed to save the theater, Walter, Mary and Gary help Kermit reunite the Muppets, who have all gone their separate ways: Fozzie now performs with a Reno casino tribute band called the Moopets, Miss Piggy is a plus-size fashion editor at Vogue Paris, Animal is in a Santa Barbara clinic for anger management, and Gonzo is a high-powered plumbing magnate. With secret, signature, celebrity cameos, “The Muppets” hits the big screen Nov. 23, 2011.
Getting our pictures professionally taken with Kermit and Miss Piggy was beyond amazing. The only downside was waiting until now to receive the pictures until closer to the release date 🙂
I cannot wait for The Muppets Movie to hit theaters this Thanksgiving – it is definitely going to be a fun (and hilarious) film for kids and adults alike. Are you as excited as me?
Make sure you follow @MuppetsStudio on Twitter and become a fan of the Muppets on Facebook to keep up with the latest announcements!
