While wondering through the San Diego Zoo, I was amazed to see the variety of unusual flowers that led the pathways, climbed the walls and just caught my attention. Though I live in California, these flowers are some that I have never seen before:
These flowers are fascinating. And HUGE. The first photo below shows the bloom, and the second is the bud before the bloom:

Of course there were many, many more flowers that I wanted to take photos of, but we were there for the animals mostly 🙂 Besides I think my husband was getting aggravated because I was holding up the show.
Can you identify any of the above flowers? I am completely stumped, and am hoping you can help. I believe the red one on the top right hand side of collage is a Hibiscus, but I am not positive. I would love to know what all of these are, and possibly plant some in my own yard!
