There are a few things in life that annoy me (well quite a few actually), but there are some noises around the house that really drive me batty. I cannot stand the sound of dripping faucets (especially after I have turned the faucets in the “off” position with all of my might, yet the dripping continues). Another annoyance is this one step on our stairway. We recently had laminate flooring installed, and it carries upstairs and into the hallway up there. My kids are constantly up and down the stairs and when I am trying to get some blog work done, it is so distracting! But you know what is REALLY bothersome?
Chirping smoke alarms! The ones that chirp and screech and generally make so much noise that people either remove the batteries or break it trying to get it open TO remove the batteries? Yes, I am familiar with them too – they are no fun.
The problem with this annoyance is that it is a HUGE safety issue when the batteries are removed from said smoke alarms. After all, they are there for a reason – to keep our families safe.
Did you know that the safety of millions is being compromised due to Minor Smoke Alarm Annoyances?
A recent survey was conducted by Kidde where more than 1,000 owners of homes ten years or older reveals that while aggravated by sounds such as smoke alarm low-battery chirps, homeowners are not acting when warned of low battery power, even though statistics show they should be. Unfortunately, this is not surprising to me.
Also, according to the survey:

What if I told you that there is a smoke alarm that is NOT annoying? A smoke alarm that does not chirp, squeal, screech or make a racket unless there is a real emergency? Kidde Worry-Free Smoke Alarms do just that (can I get a “halleluhah”?). The new Kidde alarms are powered by sealed-in, long-life lithium batteries for 10 years (the life of the alarm), so it won’t be bothering you every year to change the battery (well not for 10 years at least – I’ll take it!).
Us moms (and dads) have enough things to worry about. I don’t know about you, but anything that causes me less stress is a winner in my book. Thanks to Kidde, I know that my family and I won’t be awoken in the middle of the night unless there is a REAL reason to get up. Not just because a fire alarm is reminding me to replace batteries.
Kidde was kind enough to send me a Kidde Worry-Free Smoke Alarm for my home. I had my husband install it promptly (he said it was easy!), and I will be replacing the rest of the smoke alarms in our home with Kidde brand alarms shortly.
Kidde also carries fire extinguishers and carbon monoxide detectors for your home too. And with Thanksgiving arriving next week, make sure you check out Kidde’s Turkey Fryer Safety – it is full of really helpful information.
It is a comforting feeling knowing that Kidde has our back, and is keeping us safe without bothering or worrying us. Are you ready to have the smoke alarm annoyance gone too?

We have some little tiny rock in our driveway. It is always making it’s way in on the soles our shoes to be deposited anywhere in the house. Try stepping on one of those barefooted, ouch!

well my fire alarm was the biggest annoyance, it had a hissy fit over some burnt toast and I beat it to death with a broom. So I could use a new one.

My biggest annoyance is old windows that let in the cold air. Our heating bill is already high so I can just imagine what it will be this winter.

Right now my biggest household annoyance is a leaking kitchen sink 🙁 It leaks nasty smelly water 🙁 We dump it about every other day and need to fix it, but I will have to be the one to fix it and well I have never been a plumber before!
