This post is made possible by Grace Hightower & Coffees of Rwanda.[*]
When I first heard about Grace Hightower & Coffees from Rwanda, I was intrigued by the story behind the coffee. In this video Grace Hightower recalls Rwanda’s President Kagame stating that the Rwandan people needed trade, not aid. That truly stuck with her and I absolutely appreciate and agree with the “teach a man to fish” approach.
This is truly a fantastic and inspiring story! But being a coffee lover, I needed to know that the coffee was as good as it sounds. You see, coffee is a big deal in our home. The smell of fresh ground beans as the oils are released makes me smile, the sound of it percolating on the stove top stokes to anticipation of its taste, and to finally hold a cuppa {as my grandma Charlie lovingly called it} in my hands – for that moment, all is right in my world.
The Mister was especially eager to try a new coffee. Over the years he has gotten very picky about coffee! We opened the first bag, the Medium Light Roast. The look on his face after his initial smell was classic. He immediately went back for another inhalation of the lightly roasted whole beans. As he bogarted the bag, I grabbed the coffee grinder.
It was love at first sip! I normally drink my coffee black. Sometimes I will add a teaspoon of coconut oil {as you can see in the bottom left picture}. While The Mister takes his with heavy cream and a spoon of organic cane sugar.
The Mister’s Thoughts:
If I had to choose my preference of the two roasts we received it would go to the medium light roast. Hands down. It smelled stunningly amazing. I would definitely recommend it – and I will be buying it!
I was so hoping he would say that! Maybe next time he won’t hog the bag. *wink*

I’m actually inspired by my wife who grew up in poverty with 9 other siblings, short on food, short on clothing so much so they had to share, and of course short on money. However through it all Education was a high priority for her family and they all have various degrees. My wife is a Civil Engineer, my bro in law an Oceanic Ship Captain, my sister in law an Accountant, another sister in law is a Dentist, etc. They have all done well.
Andrea Amy
My Dad inspired me to always try my best, and to be a fighter (in that you don’t get anything for free in life, if you want something you have to fight for it). Be strong, and don’t be afraid to fail. Unfortunately he lost his fight with cancer 6 years ago, and I miss him so much.

All of my kids inspire me…you’d think it would be the other way around. As I have tackled disabling illness the past 12 years, they have just grown so high…jumped into new jobs and confidence to go back to school, deal with their own speed bumps with dignity and integrity. They have learned how fragile and wonderful and short life can be. And they inspire me to try to fight harder and not let myself give up.
