Project Sunlight #ShareAMeal – Our Family Experience

Check out my first post introducing Unilever’s Project Sunlight and #ShareAMeal!

When it comes to sharing a meal, there are so many things one could do.  Our family decided to share a meal now…and later.  We had a lot of fun, bonded with another family and did some good in our community.  What an honor it is to have this opprotunity from Unilever’s Project Sunlight!

Childhood hunger is a very real problem in the United States.

First, we had a delicious meal of lasagna, acorn squash, corn and rolls shared with a neighbor.  It was such a great experience.  We laughed, we ate, we enjoyed each other’s company.  I was able to get my kids involved by putting them to work.  Johnny and Paige were both a help in the kitchen, Johnny is my lasagna master, it’s his favorite dish.  Paige helped with the grocery shopping and cleaning up.   She loves to wash dishes and I’m happy to let her do it!

Our family really enjoyed this activity.  It’s something we will definitely do again!

Another way we decided to Share-A-Meal was by hosting a neighborhood food drive.  While I wish we were more successful, I’ll take what I can get.  This food drive is enough to provide one family with the Thanksgiving Day feastings.  Turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, potatoes, gravy, green beans and of course, everything needed for a pumpkin pie!
