With the kid’s back in school, things are going to be getting more and more hectic around here. Whether it’s sports, birthday parties to attend, play dates with new friends or an A on the math test your child studied hard for, there are so many things to celebrate. One thing my family and I like to do to celebrate fun things is to bake a cake together. It’s fun to spend time in the kitchen as a family and to enjoy the cake together, too.
The biggest issue we always have though, is deciding on what flavor of cake and icing to buy and make. If it’s someone’s birthday, they obviously get to choose the flavor, but if it’s a family occasion that we’re all celebrating, the decision is a lot harder. One of my kids loves red velvet cake but I don’t like it at all. I love lemon cake but one of my other kids doesn’t like lemon. Deciding on one kind of cake is never an easy thing!
That’s why I am so excited about Duncan Hines Perfect Size Cakes. They’re the same high quality, great tasting cake mixes that you expect to find from Duncan Hines but the difference is that each mix is the perfect size for 2-4 people. I love that my family and I can choose two different flavors, make them both at the same time and have just the right amount of cake for all of us (with a little bit left over for the next day).
Duncan Hines Perfect Size cake mixes are the perfect things to have on hand in your pantry and whip up real quick when you know someone is coming over to visit. Inside the cake mix kits, you’ll find almost everything you need. All you need to add is an egg, water and a couple Tablespoons of butter. The kit comes with the cake mix, the frosting mix and a 6-inch cake pan, so you don’t even have to have a cake pan of your own! Plus, it holds just the right amount of cake so you’re not making a big cake with lots of leftovers.
Duncan Hines has created Perfect Size cakes in five deliciously indulgent favors:
· Chocolate Lover’s – Chocolate cake with chocolate frosting
· Red Velvet Dream – Red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting
· Lemon Bliss – Lemon cake with lemon frosting
· Strawberries and Cream – Strawberry cake with cream cheese frosting
· Golden Fudge – Golden cake with chocolate fudge frosting
My kids had a great time making their cakes when my niece Scarlett came for a sleepover. We were able to make a couple flavors of cakes that made everyone happy, plus the younger kids got to help the older kids and myself make some fantastic tasting cakes.
