Celebrate Magna-Tiles People Blocks For Toddlers

My older son, Malone has been a huge fan of Magna-Tiles since he was first introduced to them in preschool. He has spent hours playing with the sets at his school. We adore the open ended play and building they bring. My daughter, Lola is two and has seen Malone’s classroom and Magna-Tiles and always wanted to join in on the fun. But the traditional Magna-Tiles set isn’t appropriate for her age. Her hands just aren’t quiet ready to manipulate those pieces.

So, she was thrilled when she finally got a chance to test out a set of Magna-Tiles of her own… the Magna-Tiles People Blocks! The People Blocks were designed specifically for the small hands of infants and toddler. They’re meant for children aged 12 months to 36 months.

They were designed to grow with children as they develop and transition from stage to stage.

The set includes:

  • 2  Seesaws
  • 4  People Cones
  • 12  Cubes
  • 4  Rectangles
  • 2  Wheeled Cubes
  • 1  Hexagon
  • 2  Wedges
  • 4  Regular Cones
  • 1  Double Sided Play Mat – 11.5 x 16.5 inches

Right now, Lola is two and in to stacking and knocking things over. She’s starting to also really develop some imaginative play. The pieces included in this set are open ended and could be used to build many things. One of the things Lola quickly picked up on is that they can make playground shapes. She had a lot of fun trying to make a merry-go-round.

She couldn’t quite figure it out. But I know that it will come in time. One of the cutest things to see was watching her discover the “magic” of the magnets inside the People Blocks.

She was very impressed with herself as she stuck them together and took them apart again.

I love that she’s learning without even really knowing it. And I love what the Magna-Tiles CEO has to say about People Blocks.

“People Blocks have all the magnetism magic as our Magna-Tiles,” says Rudy T. Valenta, Valtech (Magna-Tiles US) CEO. “These are easier for youngsters to maneuver and large enough so they don’t pose a choking hazard.” Valenta adds, “While little ones are having fun building, they also are honing-in on essential fine motor skills, exploring their own creativity, and developing spatial and logical reasoning.”

The People Blocks sets include non-toxic plastic shapes. Some of the shapes have faces, while others have different designs. This toy falls into the frustration free category for me. I love that it is 100% appropriate for my daughter and that I don’t have to worry about her finding a smaller piece that she might choke on. I have been a long time fan of the Magna-Tiles brand and it has been really fun to see them create a new product for a younger generation.

I love that they have a leg appearance. This si great so when little ones are playing with a little older kids and they can not actually connect legos, they can get the feeling they are. This is a great idea.

  2. My favorite feature of the Magna Tiles People Blocks is that it is a “grow with me” toy that will last for years. So often with toddler toys, they are only age appropriate for 6 months at a time to at most one year at a time.

My favorite feature is that it poses no choking hazard and I love that it helps with their fine motor skills.
