Use Frego Containers for Food Storage and More!

Disclosure review
My husband is not able to leave his work during lunchtime, so he takes his lunch with him every day.  It works out great because he can eat leftovers, ensuring that the food does not go to waste.  However, although he has access to a refrigerator and microwave at work, there are no plates available, so he needs to bring his food in a container that he can both heat up and eat out of.  Most of our storage containers are plastic, so he cannot use those because he cannot put them in a microwave.  We have a couple of glass containers, but they are a lot bigger than what he needs for lunch.

I heard about frego food storage containers and I was really excited to try them out.  Frego containers come with three pieces – a square glass bowl, a silicone sleeve, and a double-seal SoftSnap™ silicone lid.  All three pieces combine for easy storage, heating, and washing – perfect for my husband and his lunch on-the-go.

There are numerous benefits to frego containers.  They are made of silicone and borosilicate glass, so there are no harmful toxins that can leach out to your food (like with plastic containers).  They can go in both the microwave and the oven (up to 464° F for the silicone sleeve or 600° F for the glass bowl).  We all know how hot glass can get when heated, but the silicone sleeve helps keep you from burning your hands when grabbing the container out of the microwave or oven (of course, you should still be careful taking the frego container out of the oven as even the silicone sleeve will be hot, but it cools off quicker than the glass bowl).  They can even go in the freezer (the glass bowl can withstand temperatures as low as -40° F).  The double-seal SoftSnap™ silicone lid fits tightly on both the glass bowl and silicone sleeve to ensure that food does not spill or leak out.  All three pieces are dishwasher-safe and easy to store in the cabinet without taking up a lot of space.  Finally, although I decided not to test this, frego containers are claimed to be unbreakable – the glass is thick and durable and the silicone sleeve provides a cushion if dropped.  I hope that I never have to find out if the container is unbreakable, but  it is inevitable that it will be dropped with two children in the house.

We received a large frego container in blue.  It is perfect for my husband.  He grabs the container out of the refrigerator in the morning and does not have to worry about any of the food spilling out with the double-seal lid.  He  puts the container in the microwave at lunch time, heats up his food, and eats straight out of the container.  The lid then goes back on for transport back home.  Finally, all we have to do is stick the three pieces in the dishwasher for easy cleaning.

The large frego (which holds 4 cups) sells for $23.95 and comes in blue and orange.  The small frego (which holds 2 cups) sells for $17.95 and comes in blue, orange, green, and honeysuckle.  You can buy frego products online, through other online retailers (including Amazon, The Grommet, and Wayfair), or a store near you.

Somehow, I am the one who gets to search for containers for leftovers at our house. These look like they would be perfect. My DIL could then take them to work with her for lunch. Or, the larger one could pop in our oven or microwave for dinner.

This would be great for my husband to use for his lunch at work or for my daughter to use at school.

  8. When I cook, I usually plan for leftovers, so I’m always searching for the perfect containers for storage and reheating. This large size frego would be in permanent rotation, I’m sure.

  9. I need this container because it looks like the perfect container to build a collection from. It looks like a healthy option plus convenient in size and construction. Unbreakable glass? I’m in!!!! and the sleeve to protect you from the heat? I’m in again!!!

  10. This would be great so my husband and I could take leftovers to work. Having a hot meal at lunch would be great.

  11. I could use this for packed lunches. I also sometimes make large batches of recipes and these would be perfect for dividing.

I need a Frego because I always bring my own food to work and family due to food sensitivities. Thank you for the chance to win one!

  13. I need a frego container because this would be a great container for my husband’s lunch. I love that it’s leak proof, unbreakable and a larger container size to hold more lunch 🙂

  14. Katherine Riley on

I love that it has a double seal so it won’t leak. I have ruined a couple of lunch bags because the container didn’t seal well.

  15. Kimberly Hilbert on

I am in search of the perfect storage container. I have snap lock and rubbermaid. Both of those have gotten yucky on the inside. Both types get tomato sauce stains and have the peeling off/melted look inside. Those aren’t my favorites, so I’m looking for the perfect one.

  16. Jen Donelow on

I bring my lunch to work every day and theven Frego containers look perfect for packing a lunch with no spillage

We always have leftovers and it would be nice to have this to keep them fresh for the next time we want to enjoy the food.

  20. We usually have leftovers that my son heats up for lunch. He’s destroying my plastic containers – this sounds like a great option.

  21. My current containers are old and getting warped. I need a new container that will really keep my food fresh.

  22. Leslie Stanziani on

My husband also takes his lunch to work everyday so could really use this. He now has to carry his food in a plastic container and takes a glass plate to heat it on as well.It is becoming a pain and he complains about it all the time.

  23. I usually take leftovers for lunch and I like that this is re-usable. I feel wasteful packing lunch in Ziploc bags and then using the cardboard plates my office supplies.

  24. Renee Richardson on

I need this because I prepare my husbands lunch everyday and this would be so helpful. Thanks for the wonderful giveaway 🙂
