Easy Beef Tri-Tip Marinade

Barbecuing is one our favorite things so we had to share this easy beef tri-tip marinade recipe. This is our go to beef marinade each time we barbecue pretty much any cut of beef (except hamburger). It is incredibly tasty (we get so many compliments), and you can make it with ingredients you probably already have on hand.

Learn where the Tri-Tip comes from, how best to slice it, cook it and pick it before beginning this wonderful marinade. Picking the right piece from a wide selection of meats is crucial to having a delicious meal.

Ingredients:

Tri-tip (or other cut of beef)
1/2 cup Soy Sauce
1/2 cup Worcestershire Sauce
1/2 tsp. Onion Powder
1/2 tsp. Garlic Powder
1/2 tsp Rosemary

Directions:

  • In marinating dish, container, or zip lock gallon bag, add 1/2 cup Soy Sauce
  • 1/2 cup Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1/2 tsp. each garlic powder and onion powder
  • Then add 1/4 tsp. Rosemary
  • Mix together. Side note: We were having company over for dinner – hence why I used TWO marinating dishes!

Wash and dry the meat and then poke through with a fork, several times. Marinade can saturate the meat with flavor when the fork tenderizes the meat. Yummy!

Add the beef to the marinade and spoon some over the top. You can marinade this for a couple of hours, or overnight if you prefer. Cover and refrigerate if you will be cooking next day, or you can leave out if you will be cooking within an hour or so.

Tupperware has marinade dishes {shown above} that I can do everything in {make the marinade, put the beef in, and flip over occasionally to make sure all sides of the beef get some of the juicy goodness}.

Make this in any quantity you like, depending on the size and cut of meat you are making.

I typically use equal parts of soy sauce and Worcestershire sauce (maybe a little less soy sauce), then equal parts of garlic powder and onion powder. Then I sprinkle in a little Rosemary. I don’t use red wine in my marinade, but my mom used to use it in her marinade, which is a little different than mine. Might be worth a shot!

This season try this Easy Beef Tri-tip Marinade – it is seriously tasty!

  3. GREAT marinade! So glad I tried it. Everyone loves it. I use it when I make Tri-Tip. I double the recipe. One serving for overnight marinading and the other serving for basting while it is cooking. The meat comes out so moist and tasty. Thanks for sharing.

    1. You are very welcome! That’s a great idea to double the recipe. I usually save a little to baste with while it is on the grill too. It is always a hit around here too, and with everyone who tries it. I’m so glad you enjoyed it, and I really appreciate you sharing that with me!
