We have been playing with the idea of getting a puppy for some time now. But honestly, as much as I would love a sweet pup – that is just another creature that I will have to take care of, pick up after, feed, bathe, etc. So, much to Luv’s chagrin, we won’t be adopting a puppy. But! As luck would have it, HABA wanted to send our family their newest Play Set Hound Leo.[*] This is as close as our family will get to having a pup. For now.
Play Set Hound Leo
HABA made a delightful little set to inspire pretend play and spark children’s imaginations. Leo comes with his own blanket, water bowl, and bone. He is soft and lovable. His collar even matches the trim on the blanket!
Timing for his arrival couldn’t have been better. Luv recently came down with croup and I was running out of ways to force her to rest. While Bugsy was napping, I introduced her to Leo. Her face, watery eyes, lit up when she saw him! Yes, I am including sickly pics.
She quietly played with Leo while her brother napped. Of course, when he woke up. I made it clear that Leo is a family dog. Not hers and not his {with more stress on the “not hers” part}.
Since his arrival they have had an absolute blast playing with him. Luv even wanted to keep the box it came in for Leo’s “dog house”.
Well-trained.
Aside from making the kids happy, the things I love most about Leo are:
○● He is house-trained.
○● He won’t bark at all hours of the night.
○● There’s no worry about land mines in the backyard. I’m sure our landscaper appreciates that too!
○● He doesn’t bite.
Okay, go ahead and roll your eyes. But one thing is for certain. Leo is a pretty big deal to Luv and Bugsy and I can see why… He is a cute pup!

There’s no need to play the dog vs cat game! HABA also released Play Set Cat Lucy {she comes with a basket for cat naps and a mouse}. Now you can please dog lovers and cat lovers! Both sets, Leo and Lucy, are available to purchase online as well at your local specialty toy store. Each retails for $20 and is recommended for ages 18+ months {which is why Bugsy only plays with Leo while I helicopter}.

I think that Haba play hound is so cute, and can really keep a child happy and have fun playing with the dog. I think it is a good way to have a play pet, and not have all the responsibilities of having a real dog.
