Story Time Chess – the game that teaches children how to play chess!

story time chess

Chess is a strategic board game that has been around since before the 7th century. A person learning chess develops the left hemisphere of their brain and exercises all kinds of functions like memory, strategic thought, attention, and cognitive abilities. All that said, it’s a bit difficult and confusing for a child to get the hang of… and most adults for that matter. I remember as a child, I would watch other kids at school playing chess and I was always intrigued. Intrigued and slightly frustrated because I knew that it would be frustrating if I tried to play.  I am excited that Story Time Chess is now on the scene – this changes everything!

Story Time Chess

This is a revolutionary game that helps you teach a child as young as 3 how to play chess! Isn’t that incredible? To get your children understanding and following along, the clever folks at Story Time Chess created a story about a silly king who lives in a pillow castle and is afraid of everything. Due to his fear, this king must move one shaky step at a time. A much simpler concept than the complicated game of chess!

How The Pieces Move

Your traditional chess pieces have that classic, elegant look and that may be great for you but it doesn’t quite entice the kids. Story Time Chess recognized that children needed bright, fun characters to relate to! I love that the game features adorable characters that can attach to standard chess pieces, which are included.

When it makes more sense to the kids, they pick up on it so much more quickly! Plus, when they are absorbed in a story, they might not even realize they are learning a game that is typically very confusing.

Strengthen Academic Performance

Just some of the ways that this game has been proven to help children excel include: strengthening academic performance, improved test scores, and enhancing math and verbal skills. Plus, it of course helps to sharpen their critical thinking. Story Time Chess actually helps boost emotional intelligence too! This is why Story Time Chess makes a great addition to your school curriculum!

Also included with the set are a variety of mini games that are just as engaging for the little guys and advance even more of their skills! The mini games include a card game which encourages your children to use every chess piece. With all of this fun brain exercise, you can’t go wrong!

I don’t know about you, but every chess player I’ve ever met was an intelligent individual. It really excites me to see a game that breaks down such an intellectual game to make it easily understood to the younger crowd. This can do nothing but good for the entire generation!

story time chess If you don’t even know how to play chess, I think now is the perfect time to help your child learn! You can get a good grip on how to play while your child learns. Cue countless hours of mental gymnastics while spending time together! They won’t even realize they’re learning and now you can brag that your four year old is a chess-playing child prodigy!

  1. Story Time Chess is a great tool to teach your kids chess, and may also help you to learn if you’re not so hot at the game yourself! It uses an interactive storybook to help teach kids about chess through fun characters. Kids can visualize the pieces through these character cutouts that are attached to the chess pieces, which helps to understand how each piece moves.Introducing chess to our children is a very good idea. It’s important to know, it might sound obvious, but isn’t so, that you can do it from a very young age and you don’t have to explain it with proper rules. Why? This is the obvious part – because there is no fun in it.
