After what seemed like a long wait, we finally made it to Hearts United for Animals in Auburn, Nebraska to take our girl home. Make sure you read about Adding to our Family (Pippa), Part 1!
Introducing the miniature schnauzer formerlly known as Kapelle…
We love her so!
Pippa is a puppy mill dog. She spent her first 5 years in that horrible place. Since being rescued at the beginning of the year by HUA, she’s had a lot of work done to her. First and foremost, she was spayed and had a hernia repaired. Pippa’s teeth were a mess and she had 27 teeth removed, I received a picture of the before and during surgery. Wow! She had to be in a lot of pain, her teeth were green – talk about infected. Josh from HUA said that her ears were pretty infected as well and she has what is called Cauliflower Ear. That make me nervous, simply because I don’t know what to do for it. I’m a stickler about Lucy’s ears, cleaning them and such. I just don’t want our newest to be in pain. No worries, we’re going to see the vet next week!
When it was all said and done, the folks at HUA spent over $600 to nurse Pippa back to health – that doesn’t include the food, treats and love she was also provided with. As I mentioned in a previous post, they have rescued nearly 200 puppy mill dogs since the beginning of the year.
My Pippa was one of them. It breaks my heart that my girl suffered so…that any critter suffers so.
