outdoor cleaning products, stone and granite polish

Did you know that Simple Green has a Natural line of products? I didn’t know this. My husband and I have always been Simple Green fans, so when I heard they had a naturals line of products, I was thrilled! I knew I had to try them. I really dislike using harsh chemicals, and I hate to think what is happening to my family and I when we breathe them in. I love the fact that the Simple Green Naturals are safe for my family AND for the environment. It is so nice to finally find natural household cleaners!

SIMPLE GREEN NATURALS has received GREEN SEAL, GS-8 CERTIFICATION!! Simple Green® Naturals products launched in 2008, have received Green Seal Certification! The products certified under the Green Seal Environmental Standard for General-Purpose, Bathroom, Glass, and Carpet Cleaners Used for Household Purposes (GS-8) are: the Simple Green Naturals Multi-Surface Care, Simple Green Naturals Glass & Surface Care, Simple Green Naturals Bathroom Cleaner, Simple Green Naturals Floor Care, and Simple Green Naturals Dilutable Concentrated Cleaner.

Facts about Simple Green Naturals:
They are are 100% naturally derived, coming from bio-organics: chicory, coconut, corn, palm, naturally occurring minerals, salt and sugar, and water. Nothing else. Naturals are safe and effective products that offer:

• Naturals scents are IFRA compliant and made of 100% natural essential oils  plant extracts.
• 100% recyclable PETE plastic bottles with 25%+ post-consumer content, printed with soy inks

My husband was very happy that I was going to review cleaning products (need I say more?). When my Simple Green Naturals arrived, I was like a kid in a candy store. I was so excited pulling each bottle out of the box…I’ve never felt this way about cleaning products before! My first impression? The bottles are beautiful AND they are made from 100% naturally sourced ingredients. They are so attractive, in fact, that I immediately put them on my counter so I could keep admiring them. So far so good!

SIMPLE GREEN NATURALS “HERB GARDEN HAND SOAP“. This smelled wonderful, and again, the bottle is so pretty. I was very happy with this, it worked very well, and left my hands smelling fresh and feeling soft. The ingredients in Simple Green Naturals Liquid Hand Soap are 100% naturally sourced, and sustainable. Plant-based emulsifiers put the oily soils into solution with water so that they are rinsed off rather than re-deposited onto the hands being cleaned. A sugar-based acid works to remove alkaline soils.

The SIMPLE GREEN NATURALS FRESH SQUEEZED CITRUS DISH WASHING LIQUID is a concentrate – and just a little really does go a long way. I was skeptical at first, wondering if a “natural” product could clean my grimiest dishes as well as a regular dish washing liquid. There was no need for my skepticism – this product is amazing! I used just a little bit, filled up my sink with water, and the grease and grime simply washed away, with minimal scrubbing. It built up into a nice, soft lather – a lather that actually stayed with me long after the dishes were done!
Simple Green Naturals Dish Washing Liquid is water based. It contains coconut derived surfactants that penetrate greasy soil and cut through fats.

I have a special place in my heart (and kitchen) for the SIMPLE GREEN NATURALS LEMON-VERBENA MULTI-SURFACE CARE. I am constantly wiping my counters, I like them shiny and clean at all times. I am a big fan of multi-use products and this is designed for cleaning hard surfaces such as counter-tops, tables, walls, fixtures and appliances. I found myself cleaning practically everything in my kitchen with this. The light scent is amazing, and it’s so easy to use…just spray on and wipe with a damp sponge or cloth. My counters were sparkling…just how I like them! Simple Green Natural multi-surface is a water based product. It contains plant based surfactants that penetrate oily soils. An alkaline mineral “builder” increases the alkalinity of the formula so that it works better at removing organic soils such as food and oils.

I was really looking forward to trying the SIMPLE GREEN NATURALS ROSEMARY MINT BATHROOM CLEANER, as soap scum, water minerals, and other dirt in bathrooms are often very hard to get rid of. It takes a very strong product to accomplish this (at least in my house – my teenagers don’t tend to clean up after themselves!). In the past, I have used a product that works well, but the strong chemical smell just about makes me pass out. I sprayed this in the bathtub, on the worst “scum” spots. I was a little nervous as I started using the scrubber sponge, and lo and behold – the scum was gone. I barely had to scrub the tub. I was sold immediately. I was amazed at the efficiency of this natural product. Simple Green Naturals Bathroom Cleaner is water based. It contains a sugar-based acid that works to remove alkaline soils typically found in bathrooms. It also contains plant based surfactants, which penetrate oily soils such as body oils, lotion and other bath oils that mix with soaps and minerals to produce soap scum.

SIMPLE GREEN NATURALS ROSEMARY MINT GLASS AND SURFACE CARE…I can’t say enough about this product. In the past, anytime I used a product that was a glass AND multi-surface cleaner, I found that it didn’t work on glass. I found this out the hard way when I bought a store brand that was supposed to be for glass and surface. When I used it on my windows, it left a huge smear, that took me forever to get off using regular glass cleaner. The Simple Green Natural did not do that. I really CAN use it on glass and other surfaces, and it left me with crystal clear windows!

The last product I tried was the SIMPLE GREEN NATURALS FREE AND NATURAL CARPET CARE. I was eager to try this, as I have three indoor cats, and they are…um…MESSY! This product worked like a charm in removing spots on the carpet that had been there for awhile. I simply sprayed the spots with Free & natural Carpet Care, waited a few minutes, then I rubbed the areas lightly and blotted them. The stains were gone, and my carpet was not discolored (this is always a fear of mine). I especially like the natural idea of this product, as I do love my kitties and I don’t want them walking around on rugs that have been treated with chemicals, especially since they lick their paws (much like toddlers put their hands in their mouths!). Simple Green Natural Carpet Care is water based. It contains a non-chlorine oxidizer that breaks down and oxidizes proteins such as food soils, pet stains, and more.

There are two other products in the Naturals line that I didn’t sample: NATURALS DILUTABLE CONCENTRATED CLEANER and NATURALS FLOOR CARE. If work as well as the above products, I would say they are “must haves” too.

My favorite things about the Simple Green Naturals Family? Their products ARE NOT tested on animals. The packaging of the Naturals products is 25% or more post-consumer content, recyclable PET plastic, and the label is printed with soy-based ink. They have a nice, pleasant scent. I love that the bottles are attractive, and I proudly display my dish soap and hand soap on my counter! I am so impressed with the efficacy of the Simple Green Naturals line, despite their being “good for us and the environment”. Unfortunately with other “safe” products I’ve tried, they just didn’t do the job. These work as well or better than products full of chemicals. I highly encourage you to try Simple Green.
