Look at your body a little differently

The truth is that everyone has these hang ups! And they help to create the persona of you. They’re what make you individual and unique. When we begin to embrace our “hang ups” and look at them differently, the happier we’ll all be.

Do something that scares you
It doesn’t have to be something extreme like jumping out of a plane, but something that you usually have issue with, such as driving to a new place or speaking up in class. By tackling your fears head on, you’re more likely to overcome them. When you do things that scare you – even if things don’t go to plan – you’re building on your self-confidence. So, as often as you can!

Try to silence your inner critic
We all have one. That little voice that tells us, we’re going to fail. Or, we can’t do that. When we have a lack of confidence it usually means that that little voice has gotten too big for its boots! Instead of accepting your doubts, learn to question them instead. When you hear yourself thinking, you won’t succeed – ask yourself, why won’t you? Overtime that little voice will stop being so loud.

Reward yourself
You might not think you’ve achieved much today, but when you have low confidence, it’s the little things that really make a difference.
Congratulating yourself on little wins, will only make your confidence soar. Maybe you spoke up in a meeting at work or managed to get yourself onto the right train and find your seat without getting flustered. Just because these little victories don’t seem like much to others, doesn’t mean they don’t mean something to you. Reward and recognize your own achievements, no matter how small.

Learn to say No
When you have low confidence, it’s difficult to say “no” to people. You may fear upsetting them or being judged negatively. However, when you’re assertive, it means that people will respect your personal boundaries more. Don’t be bullied into doing something you don’t want to do. If needed, consider some classes in assertiveness.
