Enjoy IHOP’s new pancake varieties!

IHOP

IHOP has always been one of my favorite places to eat. One thing I love is all of the choices they have – not just your typical breakfast fare. They have oodles of menu items (not just for breakfast either!), that always make me want one of everything. Since I try to practice self-control, I do not order each item, instead I try something different each time I go.

My system may have just failed me though, as I recently went to IHOP to try their new pancake varieties. I kind of fell in love with the ones I tried – the Red Velvet. Anybody who knows me knows that I am a sucker for anything and everything Red Velvet, so when I saw these on the menu, I knew that is what I would be getting.

IHOP’s new pancake varieties include:

Red Velvet Pancakes– Rich, chocolaty red velvet pancakes, drizzled with cream cheese icing, a dusting of powdered sugar and crowned with whipped topping.

Sweet Strawberry Pancakes– Fluffy famous buttermilk pancakes crowned with cool strawberries in glaze, drizzled with cream cheese icing and crowned with whipped topping.

Whole Wheat Pancakes with Banana – Wholesome and lightly sweet fluffy whole wheat pancakes topped with fresh sliced bananas.

My daughter joined me – it was fun to have her along, as she appreciates good food just as much as me. Plus it gave us a chance to talk and have some much needed girl time.

She was not in the breakfast mood (although she was tempted when she saw the new IHOP pancake varieties), but instead she opted for some good old-fashioned chicken fried steak.

She also ordered this Blueberry Lemonade. I had a few sips and wished I had ordered one for myself. It actually had blueberries on top! It was so refreshing…mmmmm.

I, however, WAS in the mood for breakfast! The entire menu made my mouth water, and when I saw the new pancake options, I knew this was going to be a tough decision. I just had to try the Red Velvet Pancakes though, so that is exactly what I did.

I was happy to see that I could get a combination from the choices that were further down the menu. I chose a sausage/bacon, egg and hash brown combo to go with the Red Velvet Pancakes.

Do you see this smile on my face? I thoroughly enjoyed my IHOP Red Velvet Pancakes! They were moist and drizzled with a cream cheese glaze, and then they were topped with whipped cream. Not only were they beautiful, but they were decadent (without being too rich).

My daughter enjoyed her meal very much too, but she did steal several bites of my pancakes. I tried to be nice when I said, “See? You should have ordered some too!”. Being the nice mother I am, I did share just a few small bites. Then I pulled my plate back so she couldn’t reach it 🙂

I will be taking my family to IHOP again very soon, as I also want to try the Sweet Strawberry pancakes and Whole Wheat with Banana pancakes too. Of course, I haven’t had their crepes in awhile either, and they are sounding pretty good right about now! So are the new Cinna-a-Stack pancakes. Oh my!
