Welcome to the “Sprucing Up and Moving In” event! I will be showing you products I have bought, things I have made, review items, and of course a few giveaways! Here are a few related posts, in case you missed them:
Make your own throw pillows (out of placemats) for $6.00!
As you may know, my husband and I purchased our dream retirement home recently, and since we aren’t moving there full time for a couple of years (and bringing things from our current home), there are SO many things we need! During this event,
Well, Rubbermaid has done it again! They have come up with a product that makes me wonder how I lived without it. The Rubbermaid Hidden Recycler is one that I will never want to do without. Prior to receiving this for review, we kept our recyclables in a paper bag underneath one of the counters (in plain view). I have always hated how this looks, but I really have no other choice of places to put it, where it would be convenient.
Since I don’t want the same problem at our new home, I decided that the Rubbermaid Hidden Recycler would be used there. Good choice – our new home is so pretty and clean, that I don’t want anything cluttering it up!
Here are the features of the Hidden Recycler:
- Easy attachment to a cabinet door with hooks included with the product or screws
- A convenient handle allows the bag to easily be transported to wherever your recycling is stored for pickup or transport
- A 5 gallon bag that holds up to 36 12-ounce cans and can fit a milk jug
- The bag has a leak-proof liner and is machine washable to make it easy to clean after any unexpected
- spills
- The bag is soft-sided allowing for flexibility inside any cabinet
- The bag and all packaging is made from recyclable material, and the product is recyclable
I wondered how easy this would be to assemble and install, so I decided to try it by myself.
I laid the whole assembly on the counter and read the directions (yep – I actually did this!). They were easy to follow, which pleased me to no end.
I attached the bag onto the rim, and then connected the lid assembly to the base.
The Rubbermaid Hidden Recycler comes with two hooks that can be used over the cabinet, or if desired the recycler can be attached with screws (included). I tried to use the hooks, but because my cabinets are raised on the front, the hooks weren’t an option for me.
I decided that I would get my husband to finish the job (although I could have if I was so inspired), and he so kindly screwed the recycler onto the cabinet.
Look! Not only is it aesthetically pleasing, but so functional. When the bag is full, you simply pull it off of the base, empty it and place it back in! The bag is lined, so there is no need to worry about liquid and “goo” seeping through. The bag is washable too, so after a few uses, if it happens to get dirty, just throw it in the wash!
Now that I know exactly how this works, I will be purchasing a Rubbermaid Hidden Recycler for my current home. I can’t wait to get the ugly paper bag out of my kitchen! This product would also be perfect for apartment living and tiny kitchens – it’s such a space-saver and just so practical.
You can de-clutter too! Enter below for your chance to win my favorite new product!

Hey this is a great product. I love rubbermaid. Wish I had one. I currently put the recyclables in my garage. Boo! It is a mess that way. Would rather have this.

Our recycle bin is in the garage, and I’m just constantly walking out there to put stuff in the bin so it doesn’t sit around in the house. This would be so much more convenient!
