I recently found myself introduced to Umbra. A Toronto based homeware design company that has been in existence for 35 years.
Umbra started because of a window shade and from there, they have been delivering intelligent design to everyday items in over 120 countries worldwide. Right now is the most perfect time to tell you how thankful I am for the internet – if it weren’t for online sites such as Umbra, my house would be pretty boring!
First the Tuck Storage Box. It’s a bamboo box that swivels together to create tidy cube for storage. Measuring 5x5x5” it was designed by Laurence Chu and retails for $30 on Umbra.
I’m pretty fond of the Tuck Storage Box. It’s the keeper of my small but eclectic collection of rings, necklaces and earrings. I used to keep these items all in a soap dish, which usually ended up looking pretty bad (hello, hairspray!). With the Tuck Storage Box, not only do my items stay neat and tidy, they are protected and best of all, I know where they are at!
A sucker for picture frames, I appreciate the unique. I was really excited to receive the Matrix 8×10 Photo Display in matte black. It’s a wire metal frame that can be hung on a wall or displayed on a shelf, table top, desk, etc. I think it would be stunning on the wall with it’s unique box-like look, we have plaster walls and I change things around far too often to put holes in the wall! While modern in design, it works well with a variety of styles. The Matrix 8×10 Photo Display retails for $30. This frame was designed by Sun Wook Park.
