Chrysler Do Over Vacation contest on Facebook

Have you or someone you know, ever had a vacation where everything just went wrong?  I know I have had a few of those.  Chrysler has come up with a fun way to tell these stories, and you will also be entered to win a $5,000 Family Vacation Do-Over!  So think really hard about that trip you would love to “do-over” and submit your story on the Chrysler Facebook page.

I remember one time we were traveling to Disneyland -my husband, father-in-law and my two kids.  My husband and I were in the front seat and he was driving.  We had a cooler full of bottled water {with sports caps} right behind my seat so I grabbed myself a water and shortly after my husband asked for a bottled water too.  Now, these were really cold, as they were packed with ice right before we left the house.  I set my bottled water {with sports cap} between my legs, and I bent around to get him a bottle of water.  As I bent around the seat, my legs squeezed my water bottle and shot my husband right in the face.  It also went all over the steering wheel, his shirt and lap.  I will never forget his “gasp”, and then I promptly laughed hysterically and couldn’t stop.  He was not as amused as I was for some reason.  The trip went downhill from there, and it would be fun to do-over, given the chance!

Here is a little more information on how the Chrysler Do-Over contest works:

  1. Once, before my husband and I were married, I took a couple of pies to his house for Thanksgiving dinner. On the way, I had to slam on the brakes and the pies overturned on the carpet. They were chocolate pies and made a terrible mess!

  2. The worst that we ever had was a few years ago was cat urine, and that is nearly impossible to get out of anything. We were transporting our sick cat to the vet (beginning of the year) and being in a car upset her so much that she urinated and it ran out of the carrier onto my floor, which was awful so in summer every time the sun heated up the interior the smell would come back, otherwise we thought we did pretty good getting it out using alot of different cleaners that were citrus based and oxyclean and a few other things cant remember which one did the best. (BTW we got rid of the car about a year later and the smell wasnt noticeable anymore)
    thanks for the great giveaway

  3. The hardest and most difficult thing to clean out of my car was tar. On a vacation to the beach, we accumulated tar on our sneakers. We wore these shoes home in the car, never realizing what was on the bottom. When I started to unpack the car, I could not believe these tar marks that were all over the carpeting. I used every type of cleaner that I could find and nothing really worked. It is not as drastic looking as it was, or maybe I am just used of it. I will always check shoe bottoms now before getting into my car!

  4. I spilled some windshield wiper fluid in the back of my car and it dyed the carpet FLOURESCENT blue. It took alot of scrubbing to get that out!

  5. the most difficult thing was rancid dog food! my dog’s vet handed me a bag of food, which i threw in the back seat of my car. turned out there was a can of opened dog food in there, which was left to fester for a few days. gross!

  6. main entry: I think the hardest thing I ever had to clean out of my cars carpet was Gasoline from where my husband sit a small gas jug he was filling for mowing in the back part which I did not like at all wishing he would of used his pickup truck for that needed task 🙂

  7. Chicken Enchilladas, which I had accidentally dropped on the driver’s floor mat and seat, was the most difficult thing I have ever had to clean out of my car.

  8. Oh you brought back horrible memory. It was Seaford Newburg I was taking to my neices shower. And the seaford smell was there for months.

  9. i was holding a cactus plant on my lap in the passenger seat when some crazy nut ran us off the road cuz he wanted to pass we ended up in the grassy part of the highway in the middle. the cactus flew out of my lap and hit the floor. sand all over the floor!!! youd need a severly strong vacuum to get that stuff out..well i tried… never did. well i traded it for a newer model. hope the dealer was more successful.
    SAND DOESNT SUCK..in the vacuum

  10. No question, GUM. My sons had gum and somehow it got onto the car seats…yes chewed gum. Both my sons said “not me”. Anyway, it was nearly impossible to get out.

    Thanks so much.

  12. Salt water taffy that my daughter left in the car on a 100 degree day after a trip to the coast

  13. Our Chevette was so old that it had holes in the floor. When I drove it I could glance down and see the road under the car as it ran along. One day I was driving to see a doctor for a bladder infection. The irritation was so intense that I couldn’t contain my pain or my urine. I drove the rest of the way with wet pants and left a trail of pee on the road.

  14. The hardest thing I ever had to clean out of my car was black tar. I got it on myshoes leaving a store parking lot that was being re-paved and it got in the carpet of my car, I worked for 2 days scrubbing and rubbing to get it out.

  15. One time my son’s bottle got left in the car. While driving a few days later my son found the bottle of milk and took a taste. It was curdled and he was so mad about it being spoiled he threw the bottle against the window. The curdled milk when everywhere. It stunk up my whole car and I had to use a strong upholstery cleaner to get the smell out. It was awful!

  16. My husband spilled gasoline in the back of my jeep and oh my goodness…it was literally 4 months to get the smell out….we tried everything!

  17. This is gross, but, my dog (bless her soul) was waiting for me in the car when I had to run into a friend’s house for ONLY a few minutes, and when we came outside for me to leave my friend said “aww, look she’s waiting in the back seat so nice”. Well, when I got in I discovered she had slimy, disgusting diarrhea on the front seat, down the shifter thingy hole and inbetween the seats. It took hours to get every nook and cranny….now that was DIFFICULT!

  18. It’s really gross but you asked for it…I had to give a ride to this guy with terrible hygiene. Long story, but it was part of my job to drive him somewhere and I noticed that I could still “smell him” in my car the next day after he was long gone. I tried spraying car freshener and leaving all of the windows open to no avail. So the next day I took my car to a self service carwash and I shampooed the seats. I explained what I had to go through to my boss and got little sympathy. I quit that job shortly after, yay for me!

  19. I was the manager and we were short staffed and so I had to go into the facility to work even though I was feeling really ill. On my way there I got sick and there was traffic and I couldn’t pull over and I threw up all over.

  20. Chili was the hardest thing I ever had to clean out of my car. I smelled it for several days afterwards.

  21. When I got married, my family put about 1000 fake rose petals all over our car. We were still finding petals a year after the wedding!

  22. I hate cleaning off the sticky stuff that’s left behind on the windshield from an oil change sticker. It’s in an awkward place to clean and is especially hard to remove after it’s been baked on from the sun.

  23. My now ex-husband once left a 6pack of Pepsi in the trunk of our car on a very hot day and all 6 cans exploded. That was a horrible clean-up!!

  24. A chocolate milkshake my son spilled in the backseat of my car! It was really hard to clean up and then to get the smell out.

  25. The hardest to clean out of my car were sand and grass. After camping and beach activities, it took me forever to get the car back to the clean condition.

  26. Uh… that would be the time I was taking the dog to the vet for yearly shots. She hadn’t been her perky self that day, but I didn’t think anything about it. But then I noticed she wasn’t hassling – not breathing fast through her mouth with her tongue hanging out. Her mouth was closed and she was very still. That’s when it hit me – anytime a dog stops breathing through the mouth, they’re about to get sick. Before I could get the car pulled over… you guessed it. All over the back seat!! It was NOT fun to have to clean that up!!

  27. Our worst vacation started off fine~ we were headed to Florida~when we were on the other side of Atlanta the traffic was extremely heavy and we were in the far left lane going 70 MPH and a car beside us decided to switch to our lane and forced us off the road into the median. Thanks to my husbands quick reaction we avoided a terrible collision. He slammed on brakes to keep from hitting the car and jerked our car off the road into the median which was down a hill and slowed down until he could get back onto the highway. I was still shaking several hours later and really dreaded getting back on the interstate to come back to SC after the vacation was over.

  28. (You do realize your answers may get messy here…)

The hardest thing I had to clean out of my car was vomit!
    seriously…enough said there.

  29. Wow with 5 kids I have had to clean lots out of my car, I would say the worst is Gas!! Getting gas smell out of the car is horrid. Had a gas can spill over and leak a bit.
    sw******@***il.com

  30. I vomited all over my husband’s Ford Ranger. I had Kraft Mac and Cheese with tuna and peas earlier in the evening. Then hubby and I went out drinking. Drinking too much wine and having tacos for an appetizer obviously doesn’t mix too well. Needless to say, the wine made my peas look like grapes all over the seat. Try cleaning that up in between the seats.

  31. When I had my minivan (:( I miss my mini van), my daughter placed an open lollipop in one of the cubby things on the side wall of the van. Well, that lollipop melted from the heat and became a sticky gooey mess. I don’t think I was ever able to clean it thoroghly.

  32. On an 8 hour trip, we all caught a flu bug and everyone got sick in the car…it was nasty.

  33. The hardest thing I have ever had to clean out of my car is a cooler full of red Gatorade which tipped over and spilled into the gray carpet.

  34. My neighbor was discharging/draining his pool filter full of gross water and Diatomaceous Earth and his hose was aimed right at our car. Later that day, I went out to go to the store, opened the car door and sat in it. It took days of extracting the water out and scrubbing to get rid of that mess. Needless to say, my husband had to go have a little talk with him.

    Thank you for the giveaway!

  35. Worse mess I had to clean up was an entire bottle of cherry cough syrup spill, to this day on warm/hot days there is a hint of cherry in the air.

  36. 3 Dozen Raw Eggs that we were bringing back from the Farmer’s Market got smashed when our bags of veggies toppled onto them. The eggs were impossible to pick up, too slimy to rinse off the cloth floor covering and once we thought we had them all cleaned up…about 3 days later it started smelling. So we knew they were *not* all cleaned up. Yuck!

  37. My car has a very light colored interior and one time a co-worker rode in my car and was eating mozzerela sticks and spilled marinara on the seat. It was a while before I got to a place to clean it and it was a huge, huge ordeal to get bright red sauce out of light grey seats!!

  38. The hardest thing I have ever had to clean out of my car is puke. It was awful and made me gag the whole time. It is something I will never ever forget.

  39. Unwrapped Cherry Twizzlers on cloth seats with the windows rolled up and it’s 100 degrees outside! OMG, what a gooey mess. And the stains are still there.

  40. When my son was younger, he left a half-eaten ice cream cone in the cupholder in the back of the van. Of course it was summer and I didn’t notice it for a couple of days…

  41. I have this problem now. Where the driver seat is and the console beside there is a small crack…all my crumbs fall in that crack. I even dropped post it notes down there. I try every which way to get a nozzle down there to vaccuum or my hand and it is so tight I can’t reach. It drives me batty to know it is dirty there.

  42. I once parked under a tree for a few hours during a craft fair on a hot summer day. I don’t know what kind of tree it was, but it dropped some kind of sap all over my car, and then the hot sun baked it on. What a mess! Took a lot of work and elbow grease to get it clean again!

The worst mess I’ve had on the inside was a can of Coke exploding–yuck. Sticky mess everywhere.

  43. The hardest thing I have ever had to clean out of my car was when my daughter got sick. She threw up everywhere and it was the hardest thing to get it and the smell out. The smell was actually the thing that stayed the longest…I have learned to take a sick bag everywhere now…

  44. OMG, I had to clean deer blood out, do not ask me why you put it inside a car, when you have a 4-wheeler.
Did not know it had happen until I smelled it.

  45. The hardest thing I have ever had to clean out of my car is/was my son’s throw-up. My fiancee and I had both inadvertently brought two cups for my son to drink while we drove…I had brought some milk…my fiancee brought cherry juice. Well, my son’s tummy can not handle milk and juice! He threw it up after about holding it down for about 10 minutes…I don’t think it would have been as hard to clean if it had been a “clear” juice…but this was a bright red/pink juice so it really stained! I don’t think that the floor mats will ever be clean again!
Thanks for the chance. bekki1820cb at gmail dot com

  46. Toddler vomit, hands down 🙁 After a 6.5 hour flight too….. he couldn’t vomit on the parking deck, oh NO! He waited until he had him strapped in the carseat 🙁

  47. A gallon of milk turned over in the hatch and I didn’t realize it had leaked down into the spare tire compartment until a couple of weeks later when it started to smell. It was disgusting!

  48. When my son was a toddler, we went to the drive in movie theater. He got fussy, so I hugged him and patted his back – then he vomited down my back. 49. A friend of mine dropped a glass of orange juice all over the back of my
car floor. It took me a long time to get the stain out.

  50. The worst thing I ever had to clean out of my car was an old milkshake. It was in the cup caddy between the front seats and had been in the hot sun for days. When I picked it up, the bottom fell out of the cup and the spoiled milkshake went everywhere. I’m now fairly picky about taking the trash out of my car after every trip. 🙂

  52. I one time drove with a small child in the backseat and he was playing with his toys and such. Well, turns out one of his toys was crayons which promply fell just out of site and melted onto the seat. It’s really not all gone to this day!

  53. It’s a tossup between major gum on bottom of shoe, transferred to carpeting or lots of sticky, black road tar, also transferred to carpeting.

  69. Coming home from AZ this year at three am, my oldest son starts to vomit all over the third back seat of my Denali…and all over his little brother. The third back seat is very difficult to get to…and we had to clean it up as best we could with only the lights of the Denali…as we were in the middle of nowhere. After we did that, I drove awhile longer before letting my husband take over. Upon waking up I mentioned to my husband that we would have to have the truck detailed at home. He said, “especially now.” I said…”well yeah…the puke is pretty gross.” He said, also because Jake (the other son) peed in his sleep back there. Ugh….

  112. Sounds silly, but it would be hay. I purchased a bale for Halloween about three years ago and somehow there are still random bits in my trunk at times.

  113. Luckily, I haven’t had anything too horrible to clean up in my car – some spilled liquid soap was the worst and luckily it was in the back on plastic!

  114. I tutor children so my car is filled with books, games and treats for my students. It’s a mess. I often lose things in
my car and in fact, just yesterday found a lost cell phone. The worst thing I ever had to clean up in my car….pretty bad….was melted cheese, cracker crumbs(from a cheese and cracker treat package) topped with a red melted crayon. Want to see my car?????

  115. Once when I was 11 my mother and I had gone out grocery shopping. I had gotten a root beer, something I hardly ever got. On the way home we stopped at a hot dog joint to get lunch to take home. Mom left me in the car. For some reason I had the bright idea to stick my thumb in the rootbeer bottle and shake. Mt St. Helen’s was tame compared to what happened next. Root beer exploded EVERYWHERE. All over the inside of the car and all over the groceries in the back seat. My mother was furiuos til she got a good look at me drenched in root beer. It took days for me to scrub the car out. I still don’t know what I was thinking when I did that.

  116. Spilled milk that had that “smell”! Yuk. Took weeks and I vowed to rip out the carpet.

  117. Tell me what is the hardest/most difficult thing you have ever had to clean out of your car:

I hate to say it, but it would be dog poop. Our puppy was still new & not fully trained…Ugh.

  118. In my younger days, I gave a guy a ride to the hospital because he had been stabbed (don’t ask, I don’t know). He bled profusely and the blood dried. It took hours and hours to clean up. It smelled too-horrible!

  119. The most difficult thing I ever had to clean out of my car was after a day at the beach…a delightful combo of wet dog hair+sand+kelp+tar. Not sure what was worse, the smell or the tar imbedded in the carpet!

  120. the hardest thing i ever had to clean out of my car was spoiled milk that tipped over and spoiled.
    thanks for the opportunity.

  121. I once spilled a strawberry smoothie in my car, I still haven’t gotten it all out of the floor mat.

  122. On two occasions I have had to clean a certain type of dark bodily fluid off the seat of the car….when I was unable
to reach the restroom in time.

  123. The worst thing was milk. A gallon of it rolled down into the floor after a grocery trip and was left behind in the car. We didn’t notice it missing and didn’t go back into that particular car for three days. The weather had been in the 90s so the milk curdled badly and stunk horrendously. It was easy to throw away the jug but getting rid of the smell was very difficult.

  124. The worst thing I cleaned out of my car was my bff’s vomit. We went to a bar and she drank to much.

  125. I spilled some leftovers that I was taking to my husband during work. It was everywhere and took forever to clean.

  126. The hardest thing I ever had to clean out of the car was when m son was around 2 (he is 9 now) and he left his crayons in 100 degree heat. It was a new to me car and I cried thinking I would never get it out. Luckily my husband was able to get most of it out though lol.

  127. I transported a number of bales of straw in my van, without a tarp under them…the little pieces worked themselves into the fuzziness of the carpet in such a way that the vacuum cleaner could not remove them and I was picking pieces out for quite awhile to get things looking tidy again.

  128. The most difficult thing I’ve ever had to clean out of my car? I accidentally spilled some crayons next to the passenger seat in the winter and didn’t notice them until the heat of the summer had melted them under the seat!

  129. the hardest thing I ever cleaned out of my car was gasoline when it toppled over on my way home to fill up the lawn mower! I was soooo freaked out to even start my car after that I kept expecting a mob type blow up everytime I turned the key! It smelled like gas for ever and I never found out a way to get the smell out.!

  130. My daughter and I were taking her two little girls out on a cold winter evening. They were all dressed up and had their good winter coats on. We got a couple of miles from home and one of them threw up and then the other one started. By the time we got back home, there was vomit everywhere. First step, obviously, was to take the girls inside and get them cleaned up and settled down. By the time we got to the car, we had frozen vomit on their car seats, my back seat and carpet. What a mess!

  131. A rabbit crawled up into a compartment in the back of our SUV and died. It took us awhile to figure out what that awful smell was, and even longer to get rid of it!

  132. Cat litter – clean cat litter, thankfully, but it was -such- a pain to clean up because it was literally -everywhere-!

  133. This is awful, but mine would be vomit! My four year old got carsick and threw up all over himself and the seat in front of him and the carpet. Gross! And even after cleaning it up, the smell lingered for months! Yuck!

  134. The hardest thing I ever had to clean out of my car was shredded holiday paper that I put in a box i was shipping. I still find a stray piece every now and then

  135. As a mom of 5 kids I have had many, many “WTF is that?” kind of stuck on piles of what ever in the vehicle carpet. Cleaning it up? Um, no. I would even go to the car wash and use their industrial vacuums to chip away at it with not much success. Needless to say we are on our 6th vehicle…..ugh!

  136. My daughter left crayons on my seat and it was like 100plus outside and they all melted ! It was AWFUL!! I still have a multicolored seat!!

  137. Melted ground in chocolate in the seat upholstery and the carpet….stained my jeans too…yes it was me 🙂 silenttributary at yahoo dot com

  138. The worst mess that I have ever had to clean out of my car was melted chewing gum.
The first day that I had my car I took my children out for lunch and did not notice that they had left a pack of gum lying on the seat. It was really hot out and it melted.
When we returned they slid into the back seat across the gum and smeared it everywhere. It was horrible to try to remove.

  139. I once drove a drunk friend of mine home. She ended up getting sic and throwing up all over my car. It was all over the backseat and all along the car doors. Trying to clean that was difficult, I couldn’t stop dry heaving myself. Plus, the scent seemed like it would never come out. Thanks for the contest!

  140. The hardest thing was getting rotten chicken smell out of the car. I went to the grocery store one hot July day and the chicken I bought came out of the bag and went under the seat. I didn’t notice it until the next morning when I went out to the car. There are no words to describe the smell. It was a nightmare.

  141. I had to clean up melted gummy bears. Apparently more went on the floor than in the kid’s mouths. I didn’t no this and they spent a week in a very hot car.

  142. We have a hard time keeping fruit snacks from getting ground into the carpets in the car. Its disgusting

  143. This is very easy for me to answer! I picked up a friend from her house to head over to a concert, and being the random woman that she is, she came out with a jar candle in her hand. She said she brought it because she figured I would love it (I am a candle fanatic) and had JUST blown it out. In an attempt to reach for her phone, and with a very loose lid, the wax went EVERYWHERE. And better yet, I have black interior and the candle was a light pink color. It took a butter knife and a whole lot of patience to get it out, but the scent and spots of pink still remain!

  144. I know it’s gross, but my daughter gets carsick so unfortunately vomit is the hardest thing I’ve ever had to clean out

  145. I used to eat a lot of fast food from the drive-up window. One time I bought sweet and sour pork and it leaked onto the VELVET passenger seat where I had set it. I had to take it to get it professionally cleaned because I couldn’t get it out.

  146. The worst thing I had to clean out of my car was when my friend got sick to her stomach and didn’t make it outside the car.

  147. My dad borrowed our car while his truck was broke down and he filled up a gas can and put it in the back seat. At some point it tipped over and spilled all over the seat and floorboards. That was 3 years ago and I can still smell gas in my car.

  148. Hands down, latex paint. Got it from the store, the lid wasn’t as secure as its supposed to be and around a corner it tipped and dumped everywhere. It was SUCH a mess and nearly impossible to get up. Ugh!

  149. You know the saying “melts in your mouth, not in your hand?’ NOT TRUE!!!
The hardest thing I ever had to clean out of my car was melted, smooshed M&M’s.
The kids spilled a bunch and didn’t tell me…SURPRISE…A couple of days later, this is mid-summer mind you, I am trying to figure out the stain on my sons cargo shorts, green and brown and looking like poop. I find them in the back seat about 10 of them different places gooey and gross. Each one a beautiful mess onto itself.
One spatula, a bucket of soapy water and scrub brush later, they were gone. Took forever for the car seat and carpet to dry in the high humidity, but no more chocolate smooshy spots.

  150. The worst thing – there have been many, many ties so I’ll go with the most recently awful. My son spilled his chocolate milk all over the back seat. The car seat, the seat belts, on the seat, in the seat… you get the picture. Of course, he did not tell me what had happened. We went out of town, leaving the car in the garage for a few days. Did I mention the HOT garage. EWWWWWWWWWWWWWW! I don’t know which was worse to clean – the stain or the stench!

  151. An extra-large Sonic cherry limeade that I spilled all over the passenger floorboard. My whole car was sticky for weeks!

  152. My dog’s hair is impossible to get out of the fabric! It seems to get inside the fibers making it so hard to remove – unless you pull out hair by hair, LOL!

  153. Ugh – we went on vacation and the orange triaminic cold medicine tipped over in the trunk. We never did get it all out

  154. Lipstick! My grandmother gave my girls some lipstick and they must have left it in the car. Well, while we were at my parents for Easter, all the kids got into my car and played. Later that day my dh got out of the car and had something red on his shirt. Come to find out it was the lipsitck. We cleaned it up but it kept showing up on our clothes for days from somewhere. It took forever for it all to get out. It was such a mess. lol Thank you!

  155. One summer day I went to work and left the car windows down. We had a sudden summer rainstorm and the rain blew inside my car leaving about 2 inches of water everywhere. Of course I was inside with no windows and had no idea it was even raining. At the end of a 12 hour shift the water had pretty well drained out of the seats but the carpet was totally soaked. It took months of vacuuming and pouring pounds and pounds of kitty litter to diminish the odor.

  156. A container of dead nightcrawler worms for fishing left in the trunk for months—the smell was terribly pukish!

  157. The worst was puked up orange cheese crackers with peanut butter. We were traveling through West Virginia and my daughter got sick all over the back seat. We had to reclean it several times to get the stains and the smell out. I still can’t look at one of those crackers without feeling queasy.

  158. I had some grits spill out of my crockpot on my way to church where we were having breakfast in our Sunday School class. They dried into the floor. It was gross.

  160. The hardest thing we’ve ever had to clean out of our car was blood – and what made it even more difficult was that it came from our family dog. He was the victim of a hit-and-run and we desparately rushed to get him to the emergeny vet clinic; however, his injuries were too severe and he passed away before we arrived.

  161. The hardest thing I’ve had to clean out of my car was the mess my dog made when she got car sick when I was taking her to the vet. It was really gross!

  162. We were on a car trip when my daughter got sick and threw up in the car. We had to wait untill we could find a rest stop to try and clean it up.

  163. The biggest mess I ever cleaned out of my car was splattered ketchup packets that my son stepped on in the back seat of the car. How can three smashed ketchup packets spray in so many places in a car?

  164. The hardest thing I’ve ever had to clean out of the car would have to be the jar of honey that broke and spilled all over the back seat on the way home from the grocery store a few years ago — I had driven for about 30 minutes without realizing it had happened, so by the time I got home, the sticky stuff was pretty well set in. It took me quite a while to get it all out!

  165. We had our brand new van for under a year when my youngest spilled almost a whole can of strawberry soda ALL OVER the seat and floors!

  166. The hardest thing I had to clean was a spilled ice cream cone that got rubbed into the seat.

  167. The hardest thing I had to clean out of my car was ants. One of the kids must have dropped something and I didn’t use the car for a couple of days and then when I went to get in the car it was full of ants.

  168. Thanks for the giveaway…the most difficult thing I have ever had to clean out of our car’s interior was…on two separate occasions…dog vomit the time our dog had food poisoning, and the contents of our daughters stomach when she was a toddler with a case of projectile vomiting from an unknown virus. As luck would have it, both incidents occured during warm weather.

  169. In our old pick-up we had stuffed a large plastic Christmas tree in the cab and kinda left it there for a few months. When we finally cleaned it up, some of the bristles melted or fell off everywhere. It was a HUGE mess and took forever to clean.
