Make Taco Night Fun with Hormel Taco Meats

Sometimes when you get in a dinner rut, it’s nice to do something fun and out of the norm. One thing you can do is to have a themed dinner night. Some examples are breakfast for dinner night, homemade pizza night or taco night. We were sent some of the new Hormel taco meats to try and last week we had a taco night. It was so much fun!

My favorite tacos are pretty simple with meat, cheese, and sour cream only on them. My husband likes to add lettuce, onion, tomato, and taco sauce to his. Another fun way to make taco night more interesting is to buy the nacho cheese flavored shells in addition to the regular taco shells. I had both on-hand for our taco night just to have a variety of options.

Hormel sent us a taco night in a box kit filled with cute serving bowls, a table runner, stickers, taco holders, and two different kinds of Hormel meats – crumbled beef and shredded chicken (dark meat). We had some friends over to share taco night with us and since everyone likes their tacos differently, I made sure to have many different toppings on hand.

The Hormel beef crumbles were a bit dry for our tastes but you could easily add in some salsa to make them a bit moist. I personally only eat white chicken meat so I was disappointed with the Hormel shredded chicken. I did try it and it has a good flavor, but I really wish they had a white meat version. Overall, the Hormel taco meat was just okay for us but we would still like to try their other varieties including shredded beef and shredded pork. I can just imagine a beef chimichanga smothered in cheese and slathered with sour cream. Yum!
