How to Stay Alert and Active as a Busy Mom

Being a parent is a full time job and most of us have jobs on top of our parenting duties. Whether you’re a new mom or your children are a little older and in school, life is incredibly busy. It can be easy to get worn down and burnt out.

So, here are a few tips that can help you claw back some time and energy so you can be your best self.

Take Time to Yourself

First, let’s talk about burnout. Burnout happens when someone is overworked and exhausted. It’s common among people who have stressful careers or who act as caregivers, but anyone can get burnt out.

Your body and mind need rest. If you don’t get enough rest, your body will force you to. This means that for days or even weeks, you won’t be able to do the things you used to do.

If you want to prevent burnout, you need to give yourself a break. The best option is to have a variety of break times and types. Some days are going to be busier than others, but you should always get a few minutes to yourself to chill out with a hot drink.

When possible, arrange for other breaks. This might be a bath in the evening or even a weekend away. If family members and friends can look after your kids for a few hours, you have a chance to actually relax and recover.

Delegate

Sometimes the biggest challenge of being a parent is that you have so many chores to get through and not enough hours in the day, especially if you work on top of everything else.

The good news is that there is a solution to this. Check your budget and see if you have enough to hire a domestic cleaner. This will massively cut down on the amount of time you have to spend around the house, freeing up some time to yourself and your family.

You don’t even have to have someone do all of the household chores. If you only need a bit of help, you can hire someone to just do your laundry or some other jobs around the house.

Of course, one of the most helpful ways that people can help you is to look after your children, especially before school. Whether people babysit throughout the workday or to give you a chance to have some time to yourself, this is incredibly helpful.

Take Supplements

One reason that you might feel drained is that your diet doesn’t contain the nutrients you need. Or you might consider taking nootropic supplements to boost your brainpower and help you be more alert when you need to.

Check out the nootropics selection of a supplement store and find something that might give you some more energy through the day. It’s usually best to take them in the morning. If you’re still breastfeeding or taking medication, speak to a doctor first.
