Favorite iPhone and iPad Games – what are yours?

I am always looking for fun new games for my iPhone {and iPad}, and thought I’d share a few of my faves with you.  I am hoping you can also tell me yours, as I know there are probably so many that I am missing out on!

Word and letter game for iPhone and iPad:

Words with Friends – I love this! It is similar to scrabble but you can play it with other people who have iPhones {and it is now available on Android as well!}.  If any of you play this, look me up. I am Speedyjen.

Scramble CE – loads and loads of fun. This is a multi-player game too.  My husband and I play this against each other.  It is a word scramble game, as the name suggests, and you have a timed session where you form as many words as you can.  Note: lately this game hasn’t been cooperating and is very slow to load!

Letter Bug – here there are letters floating around, some on top of others. You form words with the available letters, and have to use the letters on top to under letters underneath.

Text Twist – you are given a set of letters and you form as many letters as you can with them.

Wordsworth – This is similar to Pathwords on Facebook – you are given letters on the screen, and you swipe around to form words.

Matching colors and shooting games for iPhone and iPad:

Stone Loops of Jurassica –   In this game, you shoot at colored beads that move in a line around the screen. When two or more of the same color are lined up, you shoot them with the same colored bead. You try to finish before the whole line of beads goes into the snakes mouth. Super fun!

Along the same lines of the colored beads/marbles are Bejeweled and Luxor.

Bejeweled is the first game I played 🙂

Bubble Burst is another iPhone game I love:

Angry Birds – and who hasn’t heard of this one?  I really like it, but I am horrible at it!

And the newest iPhone/iPad games I am hooked on?

Tiny Zoo and Tap Zoo! These are really fun – you get to build and design your own zoos. You can buy animals, decorations, restaurants, etc., and even breed animals. I love to rearrange my zoos, add pathways, etc. So fun, but quite addicting!

  1. This is a favorite topic, as you’ll notice when you see the length of my comment! Many of these apps I got when they were on sale for a brief period of time – I don’t pay for apps very often! I just paged through my phone and iPad and listed out the apps I like most.

The National Geographic GeoBee app is free today and tomorrow only. It’s usually $1.99. It’s fun for me as an adult and I had a few young friends playing it this afternoon (9 and 12 or so) and they enjoyed it too. It’s available for both iPhone and iPad.

I also love Tiki Totems, Tiki Totems 2 and Lavalanche, all from the same developer. It’s a sort of physics-based game. Other physics-based games I enjoy are Cut the Rope and a Monster Ate My Homework.

As far as word games go, I like Word Ladder and Textropolis.

I like Trivial Pursuit as well, Mancala (there are lots of different ones, I have Mancala FS5, free version), Brain Party (disclosure – it was created by a friend of mine), World Countries All-in-One, Rush Hour, Time Geeks, LetsTans Deluxe (worth every penny if you enjoy tangrams – it has a ton of levels!), any of the free Magic Puzzle apps…. European Union Factbook and Quiz (I’m a geek).

As far as productivity, I love Notes Plus, Documents to Go, Evernote, Dropbox, Wi-Fi Finder, Kindle, Dragon Dictation is supposed to be good, TripIt (free version) is good if you travel.

Cardstar is AWESOME for keeping track of things like loyalty car numbers and bar codes, frequent flyer numbers. Love, love, love it!!

I can’t wait to hear everyone else’s favorite apps!

    1. Thank you so much for posting your faves! I just loaded Textroplis and am getting Cardstar now. That one sounds fantastic, as I always lose track of my cards. Thanks!

  2. I like Bubble Burst – thanks to you – and am stuck on one stupid level, dammit!
I LOVE bejewelled, it is also the first game I ever played.
You also got me hooked on Words with Friends, which I am in the midst of playing a game with you…. I think it’s your turn. =)
    HUGGLES!

  3. Thanks for letting me know about games I may not be aware of. I like to play games but dont
always have the time but I do whenever I get a chance to. Word games are a favorite of mine.

  4. I remember back in 2011 when Words with Friends was the go-to iPhone game, feels like ages ago. A friend of mine still plays word games but also got into something with a bit more action. He told me the key is finding a platform where the login process is simple so you can jump right into the action. He uses the login 1 win app on his phone and says it’s smooth every time. The game selection keeps him busy and he’s actually seen profit while playing.
