I’ll bet you didn’t know that about me! Yep – when the hubs and I first met, he had a brand spanking new Harley Davidson. Every weekend we would take long rides – with me settled on the back with my arms around him and my long hair floating in the breeze. That is until the helmet law came into effect and we were only allowed to ride if we wore a motorcycle helmet.

I don’t mind that so much, as we do need our heads protected, but the thought of helmet hair was disturbing. If you dont’ know what helmet hair is, it’s when your hair has been smooshed down by a helmet for awhile and when you take the helmet off, your hair is plastered to your head…yep – really pretty 🙂 But since we are law abiding citizens we promptly went out and purchased new helmets. Granted they weren’t the most attractive things around (remember – this was about 20 years ago!).
When our daughter was born, we found that we simply did not have the time to ride anymore. It was heartbreaking to say the least, as it was one of our favorite things to do. We ended up selling his beautiful motorcycle to a good friend of ours. At least we knew it went to a good home and would be well taken care of.
My husband and I will be retiring in approximately three years {not that we are counting or anything}, and we have decided that when that day comes, we are going to buy another motorcycle. We’re interested in buying a used Harley. You know, one of those sexy Harley Davidson’s with the fancy arm rests, stereo, and the cushy back rest, etc. Of course we will need new helmets to go with our new motorcycle, but this time around, we have a better selection to choose from! There are some pretty stylish motorcycle helmets these days and it shouldn’t be difficult to find the perfect ones. I have seen several really nice ones that I wouldn’t mind wearing, including several Giro Helmets that are sleek and attractive. Because a girl has got to look hot on the back of a bike, ya know?

Awesome picture 🙂 Before my daughter was born, heck before we were married I encouraged my hubby to get a bike. We’d rent them occasionally and go for rides. Haven’t done it in ages, though.
Thanks! There is just something so ‘freeing” about it…I love it! I hope you get to go again someday too…
I love that picture. I can totally picture you as a biker babe 😉
You rock. You just totally rock. I knew you were cool, and this confirms that the coolness has been in existence for a long, long time.
ROFL Well thank you very much! I like to think I’m pretty cool, but ya know 🙂
You know, I can totally see you in leather on the back of a motorcycle.
I love riding on the back of a bike but unfortunately, I can’t do it anymore because of my back injury and surgery. BooHoo! 🙁
Love that photo of you and Speedy Cop.
