If you are anything like me, you probably have a stack or two of gift cards that you aren’t sure you will ever use. They might have been given to you as a present, but they are for places you don’t normally shop or eat or whatever. What on earth can you do with these? Well, you can always give them to someone else as a gift, but then again if you received it as a present, you should be able to enjoy it right?
Today I discovered a really neat site, called Cardpool, where you can sell gift cards or buy discounted gift cards! Oh how I wish I had known about this site before, because on more than one occasion, I have wanted to exchange some of my current gift cards that I know I will probably never use. The idea is simply brilliant. You also have the option of buying discounted gift cards from Cardpool. You can purchase discounted gift cards for your fave places, up to 35% off at Cardpool’s gift card exchange. Oh, and shipping is free!
How does it work exactly?
Cardpool connects with millions of gift card holders and accepts and handles the gift cards they receive. After receiving the cards, they verify the authenticity and balance for each card and holds on to them until a buyer is found. Even if they never find a buyer for a particular card, they still pay the seller within 24 hours.
Cardpool offers the simplest, safest, and fastest way of buying or selling gift cards and we exclusively carry hassle-free gift cards that have NO FEES and NO EXPIRATION. We securely process every gift card transaction with the highest level of encryption commercially available, validate the value of every gift card by hand, and offer an unprecedented and industry leading Purchase Guarantee Program to give our customers the ultimate peace of mind.
Selling gift cards on Cardpool involves three simple steps.
You tell them which card(s) you would like to sell for cash, then send in the gift cards you want to sell, either via snail mail (using their free shipping label) or electronically. Cardpool will send you a check within 24 hours of receiving your gift card(s)!
I found the Cardpool site pretty easy to navigate. Although I didn’t sell any gift cards, it looks self-explanatory. As far as buying gift cards, it looks super easy. It is spelled out clearly whether a card is a physical gift card (that will be mailed to you), or an electronic gift card. Next to each card name, it also tells you how many they have. If Cardpool is out of stock on a card you want, you can always add it to your wishlist – I love this idea 🙂

Cardpool sells both physical gift cards and electronic gift cards – so if you want to buy something fast, you have that option with the electronic gift card option. Also available for purchase are merchandise credit – these typically have a higher savings percentage. I just saw one for Kohl’s for a $170.94 credit, with a sales price of only $143.59. I love the prices of the gift cards they sell! The gift cards range as far as how much they are discounted, some might be a 3% savings, while others are up to 20% savings! In looking around their site, here are just a few of the great deals that I found:
$50 1800 Flowers Gift Card – only $40!
$25 Applebee’s Gift Card – only $22.25
$53.66 American Eagle Outfitters – only $46.68
There are many, many others to choose from as well.
If you are ready to sell a gift card, or if you want to buy gift cards, Cardpool just might be the place for you!
Please note – although I have not personally sold or purchased cards on Cardpool, I love the concept, how easy their site is to navigate and I plan on trying it in the near future!
