Learn to Play Piano With Hoffman Academy

Musical education is important in my family.  We are constantly singing, dancing, and playing instruments.  It is a priority for us to make sure our girls grow up with a love for music.  The difficult part of being a busy family of four on a tight budget is the fact that we don’t really have the time or money to afford formal music lessons.  That’s why I was thrilled to hear about Hoffman Academy. 

Joseph Hoffman began Hoffman Academy in his home in 2007 when he taught piano lessons to a group of about 40 students.  From there, he soon realized there were more students in need of lessons than he could teach, and he decided to provide lessons online.  The decision was then made to provide lessons for free so that there would be no child without access to these great lessons.

Hoffman Academy offers 5-15 minute piano lessons free for viewing on your computer.  Taught by Joseph Hoffman, these videos are made to be watched 2-3 times a week, with review in between.  There are also supplemental materials offered for purchase to help your child receive a more thorough understanding of each lesson.  While the videos are great teachers by themselves, purchase of the additional lesson materials is recommended.

Just with the first lesson with Hoffman Academy, your child will learn how to find the high and low notes on their piano, about the pattern of 2 and 3 black keys, and how to play their first song- Hot Cross Buns.

I feel that by offering these great lessons online for everyone to learn from, Hoffman Academy has truly put the love for music first.  Not only can children learn from these videos, but adults can as well.  Unfortunately, my seven year old’s keyboard was broken before we were able to go through any of the lessons with her.  Hopefully, we’ll be able to get her a new one soon so she can take advantage of these wonderful lessons offered by Hoffman Academy.  I know that once we have access to a new piano, I will also be looking to these videos myself to brush up on my playing, as well as expanding my musical knowledge.
