Solo “Bare” Review and Solo Prize Pack Giveaway

We are a family that loves to entertain and we frequently have dinner guest and host parties at our home. There are 2 things I don’t usually like about entertaining: the number of plates and cups we have to handwash after such events and how people (especially kids) can’t seem to keep up with their cups and end up using more than one. Now, thanks to Solo Cup Company, both of these problems can be solved making for a much more relaxed and fun time when entertaining and hosting. We also don’t have a dishwasher so we have to hand wash dishes so I was very excited to get several packages of Solo plates and cups which meant a little less work for me too.

Our family recently received a large bag filled with not only the marquee products from Solo that we have grown up using but also products from their new eco-forward line called Bare. The first thing I immediately thought when seeing the nice bag they came in is that it would be perfect to use when we are tent camping or canoeing. Inside the bag were 2 packs of Solo’s signature heavy duty plates, their new “Peel & Scratch” cups and a package of Bare plates and cups.

As a child, I can remember my Mom putting peanut butter & jelly sandwiches, chips and grapes on a Solo paper plate and letting me go outside to “picnic” in the summertime. Now as a Mom myself, I do the same thing for my own children. With Solo’s heavy duty paper plates, cups and bowls you can mix and match patterns to make decorating your table a lot easier and they are strong enough to hold up to the heaviest foods. One night at dinner, we had fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, corn and rolls and we used the heavy duty plates. The Solo plates held up remarkably well and I was very surprised at how grease resistant they were. They did not leave greasy spots on my table, they were not flimsy when the kids were carrying their plates to the table and they held all the food without spilling over.

The new Solo “Peel & Scratch” cups are probably my favorite thing. No more guessing at whose drink belong to whom, no lost cups or mixed-up cups because all that confusion has been eliminated thanks to the new “It’s My Solo” peel & stick cups. With the new cup design, you simply pull off the blue label and underneath is a chalkboard surface. You can easily scratch a name, a design or whatever you want to write onto that chalkboard using your fingernail. The personalization options are endless with the “It’s My Solo” cups because you design your own unique cup style that will set yours apart from anyone else’s. These would make a great party cup because everyone’s cups could be easily identified.

Bare by Solo is new eco-forward convenience tableware from Solo. Through Bare by Solo, they are creating alternative products to do their part in looking out for the environment and future generations without compromising the convenience and quality you have grown to love with Solo. We received 15 of their Bare renewable plates to use and these were by far my husband’s favorite. He has wanted to use this plate for dinner every night. They are made with plant-based renewable materials and are almost a cardboard color. They are extremely tough and durable and thicker than the regular Solo plates. These plates also contain far less petrochemicals since they are made from renewable resources and not conventional plastic.

We also received a package of the Bare compostable cups. These oatmeal colored cups are made from bio-based plastic (from plants like corn) but they feel just like conventional plastic. Since they are made from bio-based plastic and not conventional petroleum-based plastic, these cups are compostable. These cups will not be sitting in landfills for years to come taking up space but rather over time, they will be reabsorbed into the ground. Solo understands that sustainability is one of the most pressing issues of our time and they are committed to maximizing the use of renewable and recycled materials to provide optimal product lifestyles.

  232. We have my in-laws over for cookouts a lot during the summer and with all the cleaning we do beforehand, who wants to clean more after they leave? That’s why I love Solo products- sturdy, reliable and can be tossed after use. The Bare cups make me feel better about keeping the environment green.
