I posted a quick review of Marvel’s the Avengers yesterday, but I wanted to share a few more thoughts of the movie today.
As I mentioned in my previous post, I was never really “into” superhero movies prior to this event. Honestly, I never even gave them a chance. I am kicking myself now, as I see what I have missing out on. What I didn’t know was that in addition to being full of action, the characters are endearing in their own ways, and that humor is a big part of these movies as well. I’m always up for a good laugh or two!
Marvel’s the Avengers was just an all around good movie. From the opening scene, which quickly grabbed my attention, to the very end, I smiled, laughed, winced and even felt sorry for the villan a few times. Crazy right? I was lucky enough to meet “Loki” (Tom Hiddleston) during a group interview earlier in the day, so I was a little bit familiar with the face and person under the makeup and costume. And oh, what a face! More about that tomorrow 🙂
Marvel’s the Avengers is directed by Joss Whedon, and stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Cobie Smulders and Tom Hiddleston, with Stellan Skarsgård and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury. That is quite an impressive cast!
It would be really hard for me to pick a favorite character, but I think it’s a toss-up between Ironman (Robert Downey Jr.) and Hulk (Mark Ruffalo). There is no other way to describe the Hulk, except for “very cool”. Although he didn’t appear until towards the end of the movie, his scenes were really fun. Ironman is pretty darned cool himself, and when you add in the funny lines, he is quite endearing.
Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury) was just as I’d expect – and he played the role perfectly. He is always entertaining and usually somewhat intimidating. Cobie Smulders is awesome as S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Maria Hill, although she wasn’t on screen too often. We interviewed Cobie in the afternoon before the screening and she is incredibly charming – it was really fun to see her in action in the film.
Chris Hemsworth plays “Thor” and there is action of course, each and every time he is onscreen. The lightning flash was powerful and loud (but in a good way!).
I really loved Marvel’s the Avengers. I was glued to the screen for the entire film (and if you know me, my mind tends to wander sometimes). This is saying a lot for me. The special effects were impressive and it is evident the amount of work that went into this film.
I cannot wait for my family to see this movie with me. My 22-year old son couldn’t wait to hear all about it when I got home! I believe he even asked me how the movie was, before asking how my trip was 🙂
I am so happy to find a movie that the whole family can watch together and I think Marvel’s the Avengers will appeal to women/moms just as much as the kids and dads. I never would have dreamed I would say this, but after seeing the movie, and understanding it and the characters, I highly, highly, recommend it for a fun family night out, or for a daytime event. I imagine there will be plenty of Avengers themed birthday parties this summer too.
Marvel’s the Avengers will be in theaters THIS FRIDAY, May 4th – can you believe it? I am so excited for all of you to see it, and can’t wait to hear your thoughts.
To follow the excitement, make sure you follow #TheAvengersEvent on Twitter! This is the hashtag we used for our trip and are still using for everything Avengers. You can also follow@Avengers on Twitter, Marvel’s the Avengers on Facebook and of course the Marvel’s the Avengers official website! Don’t forget about #Lokisgirls and #TeamLoki too!
*I was provided complimentary lodging and travel from Disney, for coverage of Marvel’s the Avengers Red Carpet event coverage. No other form of compensation was received.

My boyfriend was invited to go to the 3am showing of this movie the morning it premiers here with a few of his roommates and he’s pretty excited about it 🙂
It kind of does sound like a good movie-I haven’t been the biggest fan of super hero movies myself, but I’m thinking of giving this one a chance. I don’t know if I’ll see it in theaters, but I’ll definitely get it when it hits Redbox!

This movie def exceeded my expectations. I think I enjoyed it even more because of the interviews beforehand.
