When you think of the holidays you may immediately think of Santa, lights, and a tree right? Think beyond that and I am sure that Hallmark will some how find their way on your list. At least they do mine. Growing up I can remember being drawn to the Hallmark Christmas ornaments at the pharmacy my Aunt Bebe worked at. The Santa Clause and pretty Angel ornaments always topped my list. Then they came out with ornaments that had movement. Oh my! An already magical tree will enchant a child even more with brightly colored ornaments that twirl and spin. This year, thanks to Hallmark, we have added the Countdown to Christmas ornament. Now I refer the age old question “Mama, how many days until Christmas?” to the tree. “Go look and you tell me.” I say. They love it and so do I! The ornament itself is a whimsical Santa Claus bursting out of a snow covered chimney. The countdown clock stays dark until you tap the ornament and then it lights up to easily see how many days, hours, minutes, and yes even seconds until Chrismtas. At that minute the display will scroll the happy message of “Merry Christmas”. I can’t wait!
Another great idea Hallmark has come up with are the recordable cards and books. There are a variety of Christmas recordable books with well known classic titles such as Santa Claus is Coming to Town and Frosty the Snowman. A Charlie Brown Christmas also is in the lineup and if you haven’t seen this commercial grab some tissues.
Oh Hallmark, you never cease to touch my heart. You can also find The Very First Christmas which is available in both an english and spanish version. We were sent The Night Before Christmas and I hope to touch my girls hearts on Christmas Eve when they open their book to find Grandma Becky is actually the one who is reading to them. They are going to think it is just about the coolest thing ever!
