I’m not sure there is really a difference between a protective parent and an overprotective parent. Most of us do everything in our power to protect our children, but I think some of us are more extreme than others. I personally never let my kids go out in the front yard without an adult to watch over them. I know others who don’t have a problem with this, and do not seem too worried about it.
Has the world changed as far as our children’s safety? Are we keeping our kids from being adventurous like we used to be as children?

I must agree with you on this one-Yes, there are more ‘extreme’ parents when it comes to protecting their children, but the world HAS made a drastic change from when my mom and her generation were younger.
She used to be gone for hours visiting neighbors and roaming around the neighborhood and now we have to be really careful no matter where we are because of the direction life has turned to.
