George Foreman Evolve Grill Review

Indoor grills,George Foreman grill reviews

My family and I recently began eating healthier. We made a pact, if you will.  Little did I know how much easier eating healthy would be, when I received the George Foreman Evolve Grill for review.  One thing we love to eat, is grilled chicken.  Not only is it healthy, but it is quick and tasty.  The only problem with that is we have a behemoth gas grill in the backyard, and although I love it {when my husband cooks on it}, the gas grill and I just don’t get along. It seems I either have issues turning it on, we are out of propane, or I somehow manage to get a huge fire going.  Cooking outside isn’t ideal in rainy weather either, as we have no shelter over our gas grill.

Since receiving the George Foreman Evolve Grill, my life really has been much easier – I don’t have to struggle with the outdoor grill, and preparing new and fun dishes is quick and simple.   The Evolve grill sits neatly on my counter, and is so convenient to use when I need it.  My family and I tried several different things on the George Foreman Evolve Grill so I could give you my honest opinion for this review, and show you the possibilities.

My son was actually the first one to use it  – he couldn’t wait for me to open it apparently, and he made a panini type sandwich, using turkey, pepperjack cheese and fresh spinach {he put this on after the sandwich was grilled}.  He brushed a little olive oil on the bread before cooking it. It looked so tasty, that I immediately had to try it for myself. For my sandwich, I used sliced sourdough bread, deli ham, and brie cheese.  Oh.my.goodness.  It was so good and literally only took a couple of minutes to cook.

The George Foreman Evolve Grill comes with four removable plates, which are super easy to clean by hand, and they are also dishwasher safe!  This is a huge improvement over the previous grill I owned – it was so hard to clean.  I have saved so much time with cooking and cleaning with the new grill.

Other features of the George Foreman Evolve Grill include:

  • Patented sloped design lets fat and unwanted grease drain away as you cook
  • Adjustable angle changes the cooking surface from flat for even cooking to our patented slope for healthier grilling
  • George Tough™ nonstick coating allows you to cook oil-free, plus minimizes cleanup
  • Digital time & temperature control lets you easily set and monitor cooking for precise results on a variety of foods
  • Extra-high floating hinge adjusts automatically to the thickness of food to perfectly press thick cuts of meat and stuffed Panini
  • Embedded heating elements provide even heat from the center to the sides of the plate and faster temperature recovery
  • Custom drip tray catches fat and grease as you cook, then empties easily for fast cleanup
  • Custom spatula offers easy serving without scratching the nonstick surface

The next thing we cooked on the grill were brownies. I was really excited to see that a deep dish baker was included – it makes the grill so functional.  My daughter wanted to make brownies from scratch, instead of the box mix, as she wanted more of a layer ‘cake’ to make for her dad’s birthday.  She made two layers – and filled them with peanut butter, then frosted them.  We cooked each layer for about 14 minutes, as they were not as deep as brownies from a box mix would be {the recommended cooking time for those is about 25 minutes}.  They turned out moist and we were both surprised how easy it was to use the grill for brownies!  The deep dish baker fits right in the grill.

A couple of nights ago, we decided to try the slider plate for mini hamburgers. I was a little skeptical since I had never made sliders before.   We attached the handle to the slider plate, slid it on the grill, then I filled the holes of the slider plate with hamburger meat {the instruction booklet  recommends about 2 oz. of hamburger meat in each hole}.  I removed the handle, put the lid down and cooked for 4 minutes.  They were completely done within this time frame, and since feeding my family is similar to feeding an army, I made a second batch in no time at all.

We put them on slider buns and enjoyed!  I figured they might be a little undercooked after cooking for only four minutes, but they were medium well and perfect.  We put the plastic tray for catching grease, in the front of the grill {as recommended}. Some of the grease did accumulate on the grill itself, but since the plate it raised, the patties did not sit in the grease…excellent!  When the plates cooled off, I simply removed them and washed them in hot water. I used the scraper {included} to get off the tougher spots, but it was really easy.

My son and I have been using the George Foreman Evolve Grill practically every day since we received it.  Sandwiches are a breeze and what we love is how creative we can be while making our own grilled sandwiches.  I cannot wait to purchase the additional plates, so we can enjoy muffins and more!

I liked everything about it, except I do wish it had a longer cord.  The cord is very short, which isn’t a huge problem – but I would have more options where to put it, if the cord were just a bit longer.

  1. I totally thought you were joking when you said you guys were making brownies on your grill! LOL I’m impressed. My George Foreman grill does NOT do that! How neat!

  2. Wow, they have come a long way! My old George Foreman deeply disappointed me so many years ago. It was too much trouble to clean and eventually ended up in a yard sale. But this one looks pretty impressive. I may have to look at them again and see if I can save time and cleanup!
