If you feel like a career in security is right for you, there are many options available. Let’s take a look at two:

a career in security

Door supervision

Door security training isn’t for everyone, but for some people it can lead to an exciting career. One of the big appeals is that you will often be working unconventional hours and so you won’t have a typical 9-5 job. If you would prefer something more stable, a parole officer will usually work a standard 9 util 5 job. This is a common feature of a lot of jobs in the security industry, whether you take a CCTV operation course or embark on close protection training. In addition to this, no two days will ever be the same and you will meet new people all of the time. If you are a people-person, this can be a real plus point.

Nonetheless, there is no denying that some days (or nights!) can be challenging, especially if you are dealing with tough situations. However, some people thrive on this, as they love the feeling of accomplishment and pride that comes from keeping people safe. A lot of people like the freedom that comes with this job, as you can talk to people, so long as you are on the ball at all times and keeping an eye out for any potential issues. Moreover, most people enjoy a good work / life balance.

Security officer

Security officer training is another option for anyone that is looking to make it into the security industry. If you don’t like the sound of a door supervisor course, this could be the option for you. Read on to discover more about this job role. This form of SIA training is for someone who wants to progress in a role where they need to keep buildings, people, and valuables safe and secure. You will need to deal with emergencies and prevent damage and theft. You don’t need any prior education or academic qualifications to make it in this job. You simply need to take a security training course to get your license. Thus, this is a great option for those looking to get their foot in the door.

So, what will your day-to-day work involve? Largely, it depends on the industry you are going to be working in. Nevertheless, you may need to supervise the door at large organizations or conduct airport security, the latter of which involves searching passengers, the aircraft, and luggage whilst guarding the airport boundaries. Aside from this, you may need to guard valuables, such as cash, when a security vehicle is traveling between different locations. You will also need to monitor, patrol, and secure premises and you will sometimes work in conjunction with a CCTV operator.
