Nostalgic Books from AbeBooks.com Review

Disclosure review
My child gravitates towards books. She’s learned quickly that I’m much more willing to buy a book or two over that toy she’ll forget as soon as we walk out of the store. We visit the library on a regular basis and while we’re there I peruse the shelves finding books that I read as a child that I can then encourage her to read.

AbeBooks.com is the online marketplace for used, rare and out of print books. Books that I can no longer find on my libraries bookshelf (I’m totally not judging either…remember, I work in a library!) but thanks to AbeBooks.com, I can purchase those favorites for my budding reader.  I’m not breaking the bank picking up these titles either, in fact I’m able to purchase even more because the prices are so reasonable!

Books from the 1970’s and 1980’s bring back such memories! We received two such books that brought back so many memories!

In the Night Kitchen by Maurice Sendak is a 1971 Caldecott Honor Book that features young Mickey who dreams a vivid adventure in the baker’s kitchen.  Sendak is one of my favorite illustrators – his books are just magical.

Paige is growing up with Junie B. Jones, but I grew up with Ramona Quimby. That spunky little girl made me laugh, she made me cry and to this day I still treasure every story I read.  Together, we’ve been reading Ramona Forever – it’s opened up some pretty amazing dialog between us.  I’m sharing stories of my childhood with Paige so she’s hearing two stories!
