About Jennifer, Author of Eighty MPH Mom

Hello!  Thank you for stopping by!

My name is Jennifer and I am the blog author/owner of Eighty MPH Mom. Eighty MPH Mom has been around for four years now, and what started out as a simple hobby has turned into something much, much bigger. I consider it a job I absolutely love.

A little bit about me:

I live in the San Francisco Bay Area, (where I have lived here all my life).  I grew up in a house in the hills that had a view of all three bridges – it really was spectacular. I also have a second home in California’s Central Valley, where I spend quite a bit of time as well.

When I graduated high school, I attended a business college then promptly began working in the title insurance industry. This was my occupation for years and years, until I had my daughter. I am now a very content stay at home mom, and cannot imagine my life any other way.

My family

I have been married to my wonderful husband for 17 years (we have been together for 21).  He is a Police Captain, so needless to say things are pretty unpredictable around the homestead. He gets called in frequently to work, our phone rings in the middle of the night, and our plans can change with the drop of a hat.  Over the years I have learned to adjust to his schedule, and I have come to expect that any plans can change at any time.

We have two children – they are the light of my life. My daughter is 16 and just got her driver’s license (which is somewhat scary!).  My son is 22 and is pursuing a degree in Arts/Film. Raising teenagers is always a challenge, but so far it hasn’t been as hard as I had envisioned.  I am so very proud of my kids.

I am also the mom of four fur-babies {kitties}. Two stay indoors and two are allowed to wander in the the yard. I have a love for all things animals. Just ask my husband!  I have been known to take in just about any lonely soul that wanders through my yard.

Hobbies

I have recently started oil painting.  I never dreamed that it would be something that I would enjoy so much, but it has become a passion of mine.  It is so relaxing and allows my creativity to shine.  I also love to travel (and have been to some fantastic places), and I love to get my hands dirty while gardening.

About the Eighty MPH Mom blog

Blogging allows me to be creative, and I love to stimulate my brain in between the loads of laundry, cooking and cleaning. As an old boss of mine used to say, “Busy hands are happy hands”. I have to agree with that saying – I am easily bored and I have a hard time sitting around doing nothing. I also like to think that my blog is something my children can look back on someday and the stories will bring a smile to their faces.

Eighty MPH is full of life stories, product reviews, giveaways, and is also the home of “Monday Mingle” – a popular weekly vlogging (video blogging) meme, where readers and other bloggers can post their own videos on their blogs, by answering provided questions. I try to encourage interaction on my blog, and this certainly does the trick. It is fun to “meet” other bloggers face to face!
