My name is Jennifer and I am the blog author/owner of Eighty MPH Mom and The Speedy Gourmet. I have been blogging for almost two years. I never knew how much I would enjoy blogging, but I am quite passionate about it.
A little bit about me:
I live in the San Francisco Bay Area, and have lived here all my life. I grew up in a house in the hills that had a view of all three bridges – it really was spectacular. Though I cannot see the ocean from where I live currently, I am quite content with my life.
When I graduated high school, I attended a business college then promptly began working in the title insurance industry. This was my occupation for years and years, until I had my daughter. I am now a very content stay at home mom, and cannot imagine my life any other way.
I have been married to my wonderful husband for 15 years (we have been together for 19), and we have two children – they are the light of my life. My daughter is 13 years old and just about to start high school, and my son is 20 and just returned home from college. Even though they are older, they still keep me busy! Raising teenagers is always a challenge, but so far it hasn’t been as hard as I had envisioned. I am so very proud of my kids.
I am also the mom of three indoor fur-babies, and one outdoor kitty. I have a love for all things animals. Just ask my husband! I have been known to take in just about any lonely soul that wanders through my yard.
I love to garden! During the warm months, you can usually find me playing in the dirt, watering and tending to my flowers, or just enjoying the sunshine. I have tried to grow veggies but we have raccoons and squirrels that like to munch on then, so I have pretty much given up.
I love to travel. The most memorable vacation I have is the trip I took to Europe with my mom when I was 18. It was a graduation present from my dad. We toured Europe over 23 days and saw some amazing sights. We went to France, England, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Holland, Italy and the principality of Lichtenstein. I look back on this trip with such fondness, and hope that my daughter and I can do the same thing when she graduates. I have been to some lovely places since I started blogging, and I look forward to more events – to meet new people and see new things.
Blogging allows me to be creative, and I love to stimulate my brain in between the loads of laundry, cooking and cleaning. As an old boss of mine used to say, “Busy hands are happy hands”. I have to agree with that saying – I am easily bored and I have a hard time sitting around doing nothing. I also like to think that my blog is something my children can look back on someday and smile.
Eighty MPH is full of product reviews, giveaways, and is home to “Monday Mingle” – a popular weekly vlogging (video blogging) theme. Readers can post their own videos on their blogs, answering provided questions, and they link their blog on Eighty MPH Mom. I try to encourage interaction on my blog, and this certainly does the trick. It is fun to “meet” other bloggers face to face!
