I have only dreamed of owning top-notch cookware like the pros use. The “good” cookware can be expensive, so I have always been hesitant , wondering if they are really worth the extra money. I now have an answer! I was beyond thrilled when I was offered an All-Clad 8 Qt. Stockpot from their B3 line to review.

Isn’t she pretty? So pretty, in fact, that I am tempted to keep her on my countertop to admire daily.

Seriously. But looks aren’t everything – there is so much more to this stock pot than just being gorgeous. A little about the All-Clad B3 Bonded Aluminum collection:

Using patent pending technology, bonded aluminum is easy to clean and use for the at home cook and exemplifies All-Clad’s continued commitment to performance, quality, and durability. Three layers of heavy gauge aluminum are bonded together to deliver even heat without hot spots and the commercial strong stainless steel base prevents cookware from warping and stovetops from scratching, and is compatible with induction ranges. Layered nonstick is bonded to the pan, delivering unparalleled release and scratch resistance and ultimately ensures that each dish turns out the way it was intended to.

THREE layers of heavy gauge aluminum – no wonder it is so durable! I was fascinated with the construction of my All-Clad Stock Pot. I have never seen a pot so sturdy. In fact, almost all of my previous pots and pans at some point have had loose handles. I am always afraid the handle will come right off while I am transferring a dish from pot to plate. I highly doubt this will be happening with this pot and its stainless steel handles.

I don’t think I will have a problem with the handle coming off of the lid either (yes, this has actually happened to me before).

I decided to make some soup in my new stock pot, because it was chilly the day this arrived and I had all the ingredients I needed right in my cabinet (no, I did not want to wait another day to go to the grocery store to buy ingredients. I wanted to use it right away!).

Sautéing was a breeze – the bottom of the All-Clad 8 Quart Stock Pot is nice and wide, which makes it easy to saute veggies and other ingredients before adding the liquids. The stockpot has tall sides for slowing down the evaporation process of liquids, which is perfect for creating different stocks.  I love the glass lid – it is easy to keep an eye on whatever is inside!  I am also thrilled that the inside surface is non-stick – everything slides right out with ease.

Here in California, crab season is just beginning and you can bet that I will be making several batches of crab cioppino in my new stock pot this winter (as soon as I can, really). It will also be perfect for hearty stews, chicken and dumplings and so many other dishes. My family will be happy too, as I am extremely inspired to cook some of our family favorites in my new All-Clad Stock Pot.

I now know why some cookware is a little more costly. I understand completely and I have to say that this pot has made me a believer. There is SUCH a difference when cooking. Everything cooks evenly, the pot feels stable on the stove and I really do feel like a pro when I am using it. I have decided that I am going to go “all-out” when I buy new cookware for our vacation/retirement home that we recently purchased. It is a beautiful house, with a gorgeous kitchen and it deserves quality pots and pans such as All-Clad. All-Clad will fit the bill perfectly.  I have already added a few pieces from the All-Clad B3 line to my holiday wish list. My husband knows how much I love this pot, so my odds are pretty good 🙂

The All-Clad B3 8 Qt Stock Pot with lid is safe for gas and electric stoves, and it is even safe in the oven (up to 450 degrees). It is dishwasher safe too (oh this makes me happy)! This stock pot retails for $225 and can be purchased at Bed, Bath and Beyond.

  1. Love it, not too big or too small. I too have had the handle come off the lid.. this one looks very well made. I like the look of their Indoor Grill.
