Bay Area Parents Guide:
Datebox is just that. Date night in a box! My hubby and I tend to be homebodies, and for those nights when we don’t feel like going out, but DO need the time together, this is the perfect way to spend our special night with a fun and unique experience.
It is a subscription service that strives to bring couples closer by helping them to rediscover date night. What a clever idea! They have so many themed boxes, including sushi making kits to dance classes, and everything in between. I think it sounds so fun to cook together while listening to music and perhaps enjoying a glass of wine. You can choose either the monthly plan {you have the option to cancel at anytime}, or you can pre-pay and save on each date with their 3 month or 6 month plans. They also have the option of gifting – now this is a great gift!
What about that hair! If you’re like me, I will put off getting my hair cut, colored or blown out. Well it would be nice to have some help with this and that’s exactly what Prete does for you. They find the best salons, stylists, etc. in your area and they book the appointment for you. Just let them now a day and time and then you can sit back and relax, doing things you want to be doing!
For those nights when you know you and your partner will be enjoying a date night, but don’t feel like cooking, OR if you have a hectic schedule with the kids, why not use The Oliso Smarthub sous vide cooker! It is pretty amazing – you simply set it up to cook while you are gone, and you can return home to a house that smells amazing, and have a yummy meal waiting for you. Now THAT is my idea of cooking – getting it done in the morning!
As far as outdoor adventures in the Bay Area, how about a day in Golden Gate Park? It is absolutely gorgeous and there are so many fun things to do: Japanese Tea Garden, de Young Museum, or riding a bike might be more your style. You won’t want to leave, so make sure you allow enough time to take in all of the sights!
Ocean Beach is a fun place for a warm, summer day. I know San Francisco itself isn’t really known for its beaches, but Ocean Beach really is something you don’t want to miss.
Japantown is something really different. The colors and smells will make you smile. Kids can learn about a different culture and maybe sample some tasty bites here.
Ghirardelli Square shouldn’t be missed! Not only are there lots of great shops there, but there is ice cream! Have them whip you up your favorite sundae or other ice cream treat. This was always my favorite thing to do with my mom when I was little (and again when I had my kids).
Dining out? Some restaurants that are old favorites of mine are The Old Clam House {299 Bayshore Blvd, San Francisco, CA 94124}, where you can enjoy a big bowl of tasty clams and other delicacies. It is a casual environment and kids are welcomed! Tadich Grill {240 California St, San Francisco, CA 94111} is a little more upscale, and they have absolutely amazing food. I believe it is one of the oldest restaurants in San Francisco – you definitely don’t want to miss it! North Beach is the best area for dining in my opinion. There are some fantastic Italian restaurants that will knock your socks off.

I visited San Francisco and San Jose back in 2009 and really loved the area, there was so much to do and although I was only there for a weekend I’d love to go back one day.
I would love to come back and visit. It’s been 40 years since I was there. Thanks for the tips.
