BellyFull and My Little Cupcake Pops review

I love to cook and bake and any opportunity that I can involve my children in the process with me makes for fun times and great memories. Thanks to The Hopefull Company and My Little Cupcake Pop, I recently got to enjoy some great quality time in the kitchen alongside my children.

The HopeFull Company began as a way to provide “frozen whole-food pops” to children and adults having a hard time eating due to cancer and chemotheraphy. However, they quickly discovered that everyone from parents to picky-eaters enjoyed their pops and liked having a healthy snack on hand and they decided to market their products 20 months later.

We had the opportunity to try the BellyFull kit from their company. When the package arrived, it contained a cute little chef’s hat designed specifically with children in mind. We had to take turns letting the kids wear the hat while we made pops. There is a bright orange silicone mold that makes 8 frozen pops in one setting. Since it is made out of silicone, it is super easy to get the popsicles to “pop” right out of the mold after freezing too. There were also 100 birchwood spoons.

At first, I was a little confused by the spoons but then I realized you use them as a popsicle stick! Since a traditional popsicle sick can often be hard for little hands to hold, The HopeFull Company uses birchwood spoons instead. You insert the spoon with the bowl of the spoon sticking out so that little hands can easily grasp it and have added stability while they enjoy their popsicle. It reduces the chance of dropping their popsicle or it waving around in their hand constantly while they’re trying to eat. It also came with a whole bunch of recipes on full-color coated recipe cards that were on a ring. They were super easy to wipe clean if we spilled something on them and the beautiful photographs that accompanied each recipe enticed the kids to want to make various pops. The recipe cards are extremely kid-friendly and they will love picking out their own food to eat using these cards.

To make it a little easier on you while you include the kids in the kitchen, each recipe card contains a “Kids Can” box that will tell you steps in each recipe that your child should be able to do. “Kids can pack the spinach leaves to measure”. This way, you will make sure you are including them in the process and that they are learning at the same time. Whether you are a parent of a picky-eater, trying to sneak in nutritious eating into your child’s daily life or simply love spending time in the kitchen with your child, the BellyFull kit from The HopeFull Company would be a perfect product for you. I personally could see using the frozen pops for toddlers/preschoolers, those recovering from surgery like tonsil removal, etc. as well. I’ve always loved Bakerella’s cake pops and for Christmas I got her cookbook. However, I thought “there has to be an easier way to get these cake pops into shapes”. Then I discovered My Little Cupcake Pop! Jeanette Facey found the same issue I had to be true about 3 years ago and she decided the only way to get a perfect cupcake shape was to make herself a mold. Her idea worked so well she decided others might want to try it too. I recently received the cutest little pink box wrapped in ribbon that contained My Little Cupcake’s Variety Pack.

Inside the box were 4 cupcake molds: a ball shaped cake mold, a cupcake shaped mold, a cone shaped cake mold and a heart shaped cake mold. Each mold is made from colorful, very strong and durable plastic. Using the molds was extremely easy. I simply whipped up a batch of cake pop batter and rolled it into balls. After they spent about 20 minutes in the refrigerator, I took them out and called the kids into the kitchen to make cake pops with me. We took a ball, popped open the cake pop mold, inserted a ball, snapped the mold closed and squished the ball into shape. The beauty of this process is that once you have the cake balls ready to shape, the kids can do this part by themselves! I loved having a ball shaped cake pop too. It meant I could make uniform and perfectly round cake balls every time. We put the shaped cake balls back in the fridge for a little while longer and then gathered back in the kitchen to decorate them. In fact, the cupcake shaped cake pop you see in the picture was made entirely by our 11 year old daughter! She loved that she could do this all by herself using the cupcake pop molds and I loved that we could be in the kitchen together.

The only downside to the cake pop molds is that they are not dishwasher safe. However, they were super easy to clean and let air dry. This is a product that will get many years of usage in our home and hopefully will be something the kids will enjoy making as well.
